Hey, Grass Monkeys guys. I have a question...what the actual hell man? I've been looking at, and for head tracking for about a year now. (I've been using the very crap Facetrack NO ir) So why hasn't your product popped up in any of my general google searchs (every other head tracker has) ? Or even any of the hundreds of youtube vids I've watched on the subject? And yesterday while going ahead and watching a youtube DIY build with a PS3, and going ahead and finally breaking down and going to Amazon and purchasing all of the parts necessary. A vid which by the way advertised a diy build for 20$ lol, by the time I finished buying everything I needed to match the parts list in the vid it totaled 130$ Because the guy of course didn't mention that he is a computer/ electronics nerd and just has all of this chit just laying around. Anyway yesterdays search led me to Dreamsofwings vid. Where I first learned of your product. So I said all of that to say this, you guys need to make it so your product comes up at the top of the page on a google search for head tracking. Or somehow get it into more recommended status ( I don't even know if any of this is possible). on the 'tube'. Btw, even though I already spent that ridiculous amount of $ on a diy build. I'll be ordering a King Puck on payday. Oh, and thank you Dreamsofwings for taking the time to make this vid.

I have no experience of the eye tracker but it’s definitely a good replacement for the much more expensive TrackIR

@@Dreamsofwings Sorry did not mean to highjack your item.. Yes.. Basically the Bravo and at times Alpha fails drops out.. Thus autopilot is not working. I am not alone s in my Discord World wide group a friend can't get his Bravo lights to work and like me it happened after the last update. Anyway. I am sure I will get it back look forward to more from you.

Many thanks. I haven’t got a special profile set up for the H145 on this really. I have just tweaked the combat flight sim profile to suit my seating position etc and it works really well for me across all my aircraft. Great piece of kit.

Many thanks. With regards batteries it is easy, I use rechargeables and always have a fresh one on standby. Not had a problem with running out of juice and being without it yet.

@@Dreamsofwings I ended up buying one, goes to show you how much i changed my mind after the initial impression. Believe it or not i called them to ask a question and it was so personable that i had complete trust in them right away. Such a great person to support and super freindly guy. The stats are the stats i did get some rechargeable's fingers crossed.

Great! You won’t be disappointed! Yes I fixed it, there is a setting with positions your eyes at a distance from the axis of rotation. I reduced this distance and sorted it nicely.

You might want to get this verified by Grass Monkey Simulations but my understanding is the only real difference between the puck and your one is the shape and your battery cover snaps on and off whereas the puck is twist on and off. It’s the sensor that makes the difference.

Certainly more than 30 inches. Track IR 5 with the Pro Clip(the real deal, not the cheaper knock offs on Ebay and Amazon that use that in their title) is the equivalent of $200-$220 in the UK at the moment so yes, at $120 it is cheaper 😀. It’s listed on Amazon.com at $200.

I've not used the Tobii so I can't really give you a comparison. I had heard that if you are trying to 'look' at a small point, eg using a switch or dial, it can be a bit jerky and all I wanted was for something to track my head so that my eyes can move around as they naturally would. Not sure if that explains it.

Yes don’t think I said their software was a problem did I? Did make this video some time ago so not sure if I said something about it? I’m still using the King Puck with no issues and it is very effective…..and that’s coming from using TrackIR for a very long time going back to prior to the current version.

@@DreamsofwingsYou mentioned you had to move your head quite a bit with Track Ir, that's why I mentioned it, you can adjust everything. I am glad you have had a great experience with the, I believe wireless headset.

@@rwhunt99 ah right understood. I always flew with the Seth Flight preset and worked fine for me at the time.

From the Grass Monkey product information “Optimal mounting distance for the 60Hz sensor up to 48″. It says it is optimised for sitting close to the monitor so that might be best for you perhaps? Might be worth you double checking with Grass Monkey themselves just to be sure.

@@Dreamsofwings Need to replace my trackhat clip and not sure if should buy just the puck or the 240Hz bundle/set. Still have working PS3 cam, but perhaps the 240Hz is more responsive and better? Distance from monitor is +/-30", but that may change in the future. What would be your advice?

@@martin.B777 yes the 240Hz is an improvement and at the moment you are within the distance for the 60. If you think that’s likely to increase in the future might be worth going for the King Puck bundle perhaps.

@@laur.an01 Sorry - Not yet. I have the TrackIR 5 and my friend is not yet ready to start his IFR training on his sim. We tried the Grass Monkey for his new sim. I don't mind the outcome. But not giving him the refund as promised is just unacceptable.

What was the issue you had with it? First post sounded like you said you had the issue but your second talks about your friend having an issue with it? Just trying to understand want went wrong with the unit.

​@@Dreamsofwings My friend is not tech savvy on the PC Platform. I put together a new computer and sim rig for him to use for IFR training. TrackIR5 was out of stock so I suggested we try the Grass Monkey. Neither my computer or the new computer could complete the Grass Monkey setup. Same issues on BOTH machines. The end result was that the Grass Monkey device simply would not function with XPlane11. I was the one who recommended the Grass Monkey and I was the one who interacted with the gentleman who developed and sells the gadget. I followed the installation instructions exactly and carefully. The developer decided that it was all my fault and demanded to only interact with my friend (who is not PC computer savvy at all). The developer's logic was that my friend paid for the device so I could not be the "customer". He became angry and argumentative and blamed me for the difficulties with the installation. I have done several flight sim rigs for others. Including Air Manager w Touch Monitor / X Camera / X keys / XTouch Mini and various sim hardware installed. I have built several computers from scratch. Problem Part 2 was the developer's refusal to honor the returned device and provide the promised refund. That is unacceptable. Hope this is clear.

Sorry I meant what was the technical issue you had? Was it the software or was the device itself faulty?

I do explain that later in the video. Not saying I’m an expert by the way and I know some people swear by eyetrackers. This wasn’t a video about you should buy X and not Y.

From what ive read eye trackers are not as responsive in heavy combat situations. And lag can cost you a battle when checking gauges on the fly and stuff.

To be honest TrackIR always worked well for me but admittedly on 60hz max. It’s great to have some different options to TrackIr now though.

Track IR 5 isn’t rechargeable. It is a permanent line and powered by USB
