In this Grasshopper tutorial, we are going to use surface paneling techniques to create Chunhua ("The Spring Flower") Pedestrian Bridge in Shenzhen, China. We will also demonstrate a few tips and tricks using Lunchbox and Pufferfish plugins.
We will cover how you can modify the whole shape with just a few sliders, change the number of divisions, adjust the thickness of the structure with various parameters. In addition to that, you will learn how to generate sinusoid (sine wave) that will be used to split the facade surface in order to create multiple openings.
An extended version of this tutorial can be found on our Patreon page and it includes advanced steps of rounding corners of curved panels, cutting surface with multiple items, giving thickness to each panel and adding railings on the walking surface.

Hi! Can you please make an updated version of this model? I see that the commands that you used are not available or require a new data stream to connect to. Thank you so much!

Hi, nice tutorial, thanks. One question: why did you not create the panels after the Brep split of the surface in order to avoid that "complicated" process of removing panels under the sin curve?

Hi Simon, thank you for your question. After we split the surface in the output will be displayed "Trimmed Surface". If we apply "Skewed Quads" component from the Lunchbox to "Trimmed Surface" the result will consider that surface as "Untrimmed Surface". The result would be the same as we didn't split it previously.

hi ! thank you for your video it's very interesting but how do you get the yellow panel in the cull pattern battery at 4:15 ?
@HowtoRhino
@HowtoRhino 4 года назад
Yellow component is called "Panel". Once you add it on the canvas, double click on it and type in the first line "0", in the second one "1"
