Thank you God life begins anew. Two weeks camping in the wind and rain. No phone. Only missed one thing about it. You know who you are. And of course everyone knows some of this show used for the greatest Grateful Dead album Anthem of the Sun. Says so right there on back cover. Thanks Elaine this is best copy I have ever heard. Makes me wish I'd made it home to do eep hr. tonight. Always tomorrow. Deadheads of the world unite. Let's meet at Elaine's. Jerry Garcia! The good old Grateful Dead. Live from Humboldt tomorrow night.
A world of birds set out, and there remains but only a few when the promised goal was gained, thirty exhausted, wretched, broken things, with broken hearts and tattered, trailing wings, who saw that nameless Glory which the mind acknowledges as ever-undefined, Whose solitary flame each moment turns a hundred worlds to nothingness and burns with power a hundred thousand times more bright than sun and stars and every natural light. . . . the awe-struck, bewildered and amazed, like unsubstantiated, trembling atoms, gazed.
Loving the 60s stuff lately. I usually listen to the years when I got to see them 76-87, but I've been missing such great gems of the early days. Elaine, thanks for all that you do to share the music! Peace from California.🍄🌈
This is, for many, myself included, the best and highest days for the Dead. Bar none. Anhistorical folks, beyond time and space. Mystical stuff. And if you had 200+ mics...transformative.
Forgot they played Eureka this far back! Arcata was my home for a short late 90s run but had a huge impact on me. Love this- Pig and Jerry sound beautiful. Thx Elaine! ✌️
16 degrees here in NJ, thanks for calming waves that warms our hearts and minds giving way to the happiness and joy that follows us on our way. 🪘☮️🔙♾️🎶❤️🔥🔓🗝️🏜️🏝️🎫
a fun fragment of early Dead -- the original, the primal Dead. By the beginning of 1968 they were beginning to get a serious grip on their ensemble sound and starting to explore forward into their first original repertoire. Wet behind the ears but winning. Dig Pig's organ. Like Jerry said, at the beginning he was the best musician in the band, as far as knowing where the groove was and feeding the fire. The stretch from Born Cross-eyed forward is primeval, volcanic. Is this the best of all Spanish Jams?
The Dead released the TREMENDOUS Viola Lee Blues that opened this show. If you poke around you might find it hereabouts. They also released the Good Morning Little Schoolgirl but that seems to be more elusive.
