Me Too! I Think A Hurricane had Blown Through,if Memory serves,a few weeks prior,as we saw damage at the park we Hiked. These Are My fave Brent shows...Kinda Tied with March 90 Landover.(That I attended)
Was at both shows and I do remember security/cops in golf carts kicking over hibachis and BBQs in the rows around me. But leave it to the boys to make lemonade out of it. Their playing is top notch on these awesome sounding boards
During the period between '87-'89 all the shows I went to had speakers in the halls with a soundboard feed. Thus the sound in the hall was usually better than in the arena, and with plenty of space to dance, many of the serious dancers spent the show around the hall speakers. I was at this show, but have never actually seen it till now.
I was almost going to say that I should've been there but I "escaped" the law earlier that year. They were pretty harsh about having weed and being a Deadhead. They wanted cooperation and especially about doses and I thankfully had my mother intercede on my behalf and was "responsible" for me. Not a week later we were rolling away from the East Coast and I was driving my car through Indiana when I heard about upcoming shows at this new venue of Deer Creek. I spent much of the summer in my old NE Illinois stomping grounds so Alpine Valley was not anything of a new venue but the last year until after Jerry. I miss all of those days except for getting popped blazing in my car. I guess they never heard of different baggies and containers for different strains as they were trying to push the Intent to distribute bullshit on an amount that was $100 fine in several other states. I was just warming to NC when the tapping at the window and my friends and I had that buzzkill moment. I guess I missed that California Earthquake tune but I remember that quake on TV.
California earthquake))))) Stranger! sickness. this is the start of the rediculous wheel house the boys entered going into spring 90. Phil is absolutely insane during this time period. beast mode!!!!
agree. the boys are in great form; from '87 to '91 they entered and exited their last beast mode indeed; and particularly Phil and Jerry, with MIckey not far behind as he seems to have ratchted it up a few notches during this period with superb percussive sounds, using every combination of his snare, toms, and cymbals to create an ever-changing array of rythms......Love you boys. I was lucky enough to go to the bulk of my shows and toured with them in the summer or '89 and '90 and went to many solo shows and 3 part shows and Knickerbocker, Foxboro, RFK, Buffalo, Raliegh; etc. been to all places multiple times and many more. Thanks for listening to me and thanks to the music for bringing out the dead in me. PLH
My 2nd Dead show, just an absolute smokin' freaking cranker!! I saw 12 shows 1989 thru 1994 @ RFK, CAP CENTRE, CHARLOTTE & GREENSBORO, I love the Dead in all forms but I def lean towards the sound and energy of 1989! 🎵🤘💀🤘🎶
I think they r all masterpieces , nobody can do what this band has done to so many of us Deadheads ! Still lasting all these years ago ! Never tire of them ! ❤️🐇🐰☮️🌹👽🛸🪐👻🥀☮️😥🥲😰🥳party on fellow Deadheads forever !
My first show. They added more seats on the floor the day of the show and I scored 3. I was in Tuscaloosa at the time so we road-tripped and got there just after California Earthquake.
California Earthquake is so rare it's ridiculous, awesome sound on song. Thanks for the perfect sounding uploads you have makes a huge plus for me cause I was one of the 1 in 10,000 that truly went for the music and not the psychedelic experience of it. I love bands that are perfect sounding together playing the best I've heard in my life which right after high school me and some friends toured till 95. People say the 90s stuff isn't good I totally beg to differ. I saw some Omni, Charlotte (9293 Richfield 92 93,it's all good .
I love Brent(I believe it's him, his voice is quite unique!) at exactly 28:00 mins! I think he forgot his Mike was on? Lol. Gotta love Brent! He's got my vote for best "Dead" keyboardist! Cheers to the boys!
We were at the Philly shows just before these and that's where I met my then new friend Sue Hess from Bowie, MD. Are you out there Sue? Does anyone know her and if you do may you let me know please? Thank you!
