For decades, this jam has gotten me through many dark nights. The live music the Grateful Dead put out from 1972-74 is some of the best music in any genre-EVER. The outro jam is as spiritual as it gets. Wow.

I was there for this. The Wall of Sound was amazing. Jerry had lost alot of weight that year. Bobby sang El Paso and Me and My Uncle I seem to recall and Donna was on fire. The sound was so crisp and clear.

I was there, too. Original date rained out, 10 or so days before. Chaotic PATH initiation; had a round-trip ride 6 August. Dead amped to make up for rain-out inconvenience, and I believe this was final show but one with Wall of Sound. I recall beach balls making their way from second base to the stage--Jerry, Bob, Phil kicked them a few times. Wonderful show! 4 hours. Back home up 9W around 2:00am, elbows on El Camino roof, cool foggy ride, coming down. "It's worth being old now to have been young then." Saw Johnny Winter for $4. The duck went home to the telephone.

I was fortunate enough to be at this absolutely amazing show - well, at least my body was there. I had scored some 'shrooms from some seemingly trustworthy dude in the parking lot, but an hour after eating them (and almost a half hour into the show) I felt absolutely NOTHING - so I concluded they must have been beat. (I also began to worry a tiny bit, wondering what kind of mushrooms I had actually eaten.) What's a Deadhead boy to do in such a contingency? Duh - I took my emergency hit of hyper-über-ultra-potent-plus windowpane out of my wallet, but instead of doing a half as I often did - a quarter was usually more than enough to get off on this stuff, if you had an X-ACTO knife - I dropped the WHOLE thing, as by now time was of the essence. No sooner than I had washed it down, the psilocin kicked in just about when Jerry's solo began near 2:45 - bursting forth in an explosion of sight-sound-and-taste technicolor synæsthesia which kept rocketing upward in intensity right along with Jerry's riffs. A half-hour later, during the Space Jam bridging "Playing in the Band" into "Scarlet Begonias" the second wave hit me like a tsunami... Good times.

Boy, was Phil on top of his game. I was also at this show. Easily in my top two or three, and I've been going since 1970. Loved Roosevelt Stadium. A great venue in Jersey City. They were nothing short of spectacular this day. Thanx for this Eyes/Eyes Jam. Greatly appreciated.

if this is the version i think it is, i can say that hypothetically if a person were to engage in vast amounts of DMT, and listen to this second solo, it would be a life changing experience, leaving hypothetical person saying "jerry is just fucking getting DOWN" over and over to his amused friend.

I think the perfection of 74 stems from Phil which facilitates the rest of the band. And the ALD -25 of course. 74 is also when the blow appeared in full force and the reason they took 75 off - imo.

I think this might just be the finest "Eyes Of The World" I or indeed anyone has ever heard. I mean, I've always liked "Eyes Of The World," but this one is just transcendently incendiary and magnificent. It is really making me love this song again. (I've been revisiting The Grateful Dead hardcore lately. When I first discovered and got into them in my late teens and early twenties, I became obsessed with them and bought as many of their recordings and videos as I could find and afford, and just totally steeped myself in them and their great, endlessly inventive, interesting and eclectic music almost constantly, to the possible neglect of the remainder of my musical and musical-historical self-education. Eventually, though I hate to admit it, I became burned out on them and worse yet, began to actually be bored with them, as embarrassing and sacrilegious as that may sound! :( So, I took a break from them, only to revisit them periodically ever afterward. This year has proven to be a revisiting one, especially the past two weeks; and I find myself once again being entranced by their glorious sound and stellar talent. Moreover, I find myself becoming steeped in their music once again, to a degree that hasn't happened since I was 20. Once again, I find myself purchasing their music, aural recordings as well as audiovisual ones, with a rapidity and rapacity and rabidity not seen since the summer of 2003, which practically marked the start of my riding on this train and trip. And now, I stumble across this hidden gem, never before heard by me, this sublimely otherworldly and severely rocking "Eyes Of The World," the single greatest I've ever heard, and a reaffirming moment for me: A epiphanous return to and resumption of my place in the proverbial flock, and hopefully I'll never stray away again...or, if I do so, may it just be extremely shortlived, for Heaven forfend that I should ever omit the inclusion of sparkling bijous like this one into my life.)

I was at this show. I think it was the time Jerry was beardless. They were great shows in Jersey city. I think I saw them until maybe 77-78. Always around Jerry's birthday. First time I saw the dead was Watkins Glen 73 the best part was on Friday night a sound check that lasted for hours! Most of Jerry's solo album they played with the Wheel on it.

I might be coming to this late. Billy is the man. He was first. He was the drummer for Europe 72. ALL the 73 and 74 songs. Epic performances to this day. Some of my favorite years actually. But the Dead without Mickey in my lifetime is something I can't imagine. And I saw them many times. Two drummers are better than one. Peace.

THIS is the stuff that made the Grateful Dead the Greatful Dead. Wonderful version - tight, jazz excellence, incomparable guitar, bass, and drums. I know I'm not alone in this, but it's another incredible example of why they should never have let Mickey Hart back in. Billy had mastered the chops and the awesome concentration to surpass every other drummer in the world, then or ever. Adding Mickey turned it all into a 4/4 Budweiser Mule Team.
