30 SECONDS INTO MY FIRST LISTEN IS ENOUGH FOR ME TO HIT LIKE ALREADY. SUCH A SOULFUL BAND. I WAS BORN IN 1982, SO I MISSED JERRY. BUT I HAVE BEEN TO FOUR FURTHUR SHOWS, AND THANK YOU FELLAS FOR STILL DOING WHAT YOU DO. ANYONE WHO LOVES THEIR MUSIC BUT NEVER SEEN THEM LIVE, GO NOW! RIGHT NOW! SELL YOUR CAR AND HITCH-HIKE OR GET A BUS TICKET! WHATEVER IT TAKES! PHIL AND BOBBY WONT BE AROUND FOREVER, SO ATTENDING AT LEAST ONE SHOW IF YOU LIKE THEIR MUSIC IS MANDATORY!
There are certain holy moments of music ranging in form and intensity in the first ten years or so of the band. The Live/Dead, 2/13/70, and Veneta 72 Dark Stars, the 2/18/71 beautiful jam, the Europe 72 Chinarider transition, etc. This is among them for me.
Phil says this was the best and last year of pure magic. After they would have shows or jams or moments that were magic, we all experienced them, but the pure magic river was never the same again... exhausted and broke from the wall of sound and endless touring and cocaine... when they reformed it was a new day.
I UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU FEEL! I LOOK AT FURTHUR SHOWS AND DAVID NELSON BAND SHOWS (VIDEOS) AND WONDER IF I WILL SEE MYSELF. THE EXPERIENCE STAYS WITH YOU THE REST OF YOUR LIFE. THE MEMORY IS AS PRICELESS AS PHOTOS!
