it took me a long time to "get" "Space" but, once I "got it," I never let go and it became one of my favorite parts of a Dead show because it would never be the same.
It's an abstract piece. It obviously had it's roots in their love of experimental music and 'advant garde' jazz. It's basically them masking music but trying to forget all the regular structure of music amd doing something different. It may sound unpleasant but that's basically what they are trying to do. Love it or hate it.
