My favorite song on the album. Belongs to the Grateful Dead. WMG, don't be fucking cucks and delete this you asshats. This is my most viewed video. I swear to god I'll be pissed off.
1990 rich stadium my first show ever. I walked in thinking i knew who i was .left a new person hole new way of looking of life i found myself and found kindness and true. Happiness i finnally found were. I fit in in life. Always felt lost. But now im at peace i know were i belong And its just as simple as being kind
The single most poignant line from this incredible dissertation on the human condition is, in my opinion, "the darkness never goes from some men's eyes". Yet another absolute classic from the greatest band of all time.
None but Jesus! Love this song and the lyrics are so relevant, been listening since ‘88. Just wanted jump on here and say the darkness is real, but Jesus is Love, and He alone can remove the darkness! I am living proof!
My first Grateful Dead song leading me into following the Dead. I thought the song was harder edge (80's rock-like) but was drawn to the lyrics, the meaning, the feeling, and the culture, which became so much more important for me.
there is so much soul in this song I can't even handle it, it gives me chills every time I listen to it. and I have been listening to the dead for a large portion of my life.
My favorite on the album too💙 they better never remove it!! There will be hell to pay! Thank you so much for sharing it💜 I have it on a few of my playlists. I love every single song by the Dead but I have a special connection with this one. I will NEVER get tired of it💜 Jerry would just want everyone to enjoy the music💜💜💜💜 God, I miss that man😿
This album was released in 1987. I'm holding the original cassette in my hand now. "Released July, 1987" Not only did Garcia play the great guitar on this, he produced it. He produced the whole record.
Here we go again jerry died 8-9 1995 at age 53 in lagunittas -forest gnolls there's no way you could have a cassette from 1987 look it up like I just did
my parents bought this album on vinyl when it first came out. In the mid 90's, when I was a teenager, I would jam out to this when I got home from school.
The truest, most relevant and utterly haunting line from this song: "the darkness never goes from some men's eyes". A succinct summation of the nature of man in 8 simple words.
"Heartless powers try to tell us what to think If the spirit's sleeping then the flesh is ink History's page will be neatly carved in stone The future's here, we are it, we are on our own On our own, on our own, we are on our own"
Ring around the rosie, a pocket full of posie, ashes, ashes all fall down. That was from the bubonic plague. However there is the coming plagues. You see the mass extinctions in the bees n butterflies. The coral devastation. The lions, tigers, elephants, bats etc and more. Politicians, our leaders and people of authority, the rich, the bankers etc. nobody cares about the earth anymore. I'm sure they'll exploit global warming for profits...just like they exploit wars for profit. WAR IS VERY PROFITABLE!!!
@@joelaporte1270 Many of those people give to charity and think that makes them a good person....yet they are okay with killing everything on our planet. Backstabbing fools!
Look man ,my nite-mare,man, like lemons off a cliff man, that's all they bendoin man!!!***(wtf-dude!!!???(Satan,any one, like dude he's working too, like get real, don't forget, those get lost are us too!!! (???-***)
Final Grateful Dead studio album, and they went out with a major bang: "Touch Of Grey," "Hell In A Bucket," and "Throwing Stones" are 3 of their all-time biggest classics. 😊
Bob Schneider built to last was the last studio album. 2 years after in the dark. that my friend is how we got Foolish Heart, Standing on the Moon, Picasso Moon. Most of the songs that appeared on In The Dark were debuted in concert in 1982-83.
i am a young deadhead the lyrics are amazing, its crazy how this was written in the late 80s, and today it is so true as we have come to a crossroads over chossing the greed of humans or saving the beauty of earth
@Ian Walters I agree once you got it in you it's there. We may get caught up in the rat race but just push play and it will all come flooding back...... ☮️
@ Timothy Hall Yeah, you still need that cash to feed that jones. Doctor says he's coming but he's only taking cash. Quite relevant - highly underrated.
The event is arriving, page turned. Book fulfilling psychos. Hazy bubble zombies ramble and rumble. The theif in the night has come and gone, enjoy the event. Hug your kids and loved ones today. Say the words I love you. Don't be surprised at what you knew all along. You didn't really think it wouldn't happen, denial, but known. The event is coming.
Now here it is 2021. Look at the human race now. May these words echo through eternity. We're on our own...but this means we have free will to do whats right. We will leave this place an empty stone. May our vibrations bring about the positive change we need to save our mother earth. 🌎 We all fall down.
Weir's greatest! I used to think it was "Playing..." Nah. I also love that this was not grid recording. You can hear that there are two drummers no quantization.
They warned us years ago.....but to naive and blind to be awake enough to make the changes we needed to continue. Brace your selves because here we go.....Ashes Ashes...we all fall down.
It's 2019 and were about to face the biggest natural disasters ever ,yellowstone about to erupt the west coast about to break in half ! It's shocking to listen to this album cause it was like they have a crystal ball ! May the love of God be with us all I fear it's about to be really bad we have the final blood moon next week a meteor passing way to close to earth and its about to get real people the Pacific rim has 197 valcano's to date I believe 47 have awoke and more waking up ! MAY GOD BLESS US AND PROTECT US ALL
+Brandon Bowser I know dude that was a fantastic show!!! you won't believe how excited I got when I heard this. Johnny b Goode, Maggie's farm, and shakedown were also big highlights for me.
@@JeffreyWhittaker huh? I never filed this as mine lol what are you talking about???? I just am a fan of the grateful dead lol. I know I didn't write this song, never claimed to what the hell are you talking about. I write MY OWN songs and SING THEM myself at open mics etc. I have no idea why you said that to me. I was just saying that;s cool, if you wrote it
I remember spending a week each summer at my grandmas house in Staunton Va, she had cable....and I remember this song coming on MTV w the video of course and I instantly loved the song,, this was about a year before I really started getting into the dead so 88....89 i was hooked....RFK 90 first show....@5:16 is that moment
This tune is remarkable in how it completely echoes the crazy times were in now with the politicians throwin stones so the kids they dance and shake their bones. We will be lead by the children eventually for out of the mouths of babes comes truth and love.
RIP XL-102 (Richmond, VA) They used to play this and other DAMN Good songs on their station. And now, I have stopped listening to 96.5 WKLR since they play the SAME damn songs every day. I thought 96.5 would be a re-incarnation of XL-102 and be an AOR (Album Oriented Rock) Station.
