Hey Everyone, The Surly Krampus is hanging in there climbing The Gravel Roads of The Great Divide Mountain Bike Route. I Bike Pack over Marshall Pass and Cochetopa Pass in this video. I even cross paths with The Colorado Trail and The Continental Divide Trail CDT along the way. In the afternoon I bumped into Greg again, with The Adventure Cycling Association. We had lunch together in Sargents, Colorado before we parted ways and I got back on route. Happened to be route 50, a stretch of road i have ridden in the past twice before on 2 different bike tours, one was last year. So laying down a third bike tour for that strip of road, and off into he woods I go.
Thanks for following along on this epic adventure, and stay tuned for much much more to come. New Mexico is right around the corner. Boo Ya.

Hello I am very interested in your Videos. Loved them. I did some extensive cycling in the USA. Now, in 1 1/2 year I will be retired and will start the GDMBR in 2025. In order to be prepared I am watching all I can. Are you finishing the GDMBR? Or do you have to edit the video of the last part. I love your way you express the love of your surroundings! Hope to see more of your Bikepacking adventures!

Now you're getting into my stomping grounds. I live in the San Luis Valley. My sister-in-law lives right on the route near La Garita. I hope you stopped at Three Barrels on the way through Del Norte.

Thanks for another great bicycling day on video. I'm curious. You said you didn't want to camp at 10,000 ft. Why not? The drone shots give perspective that I really appreciate. It gives some context to the terrain you're in.

Its great to have the drone back up. I was trying to drop elevation hoping it wouldn't be as chilly in the morning, dive deeper into the trees. Ill camp anywhere, but if theres an option to drop elevation, might as well.

May I ask what kind of sleeping bag you use? Would you recommend it?

ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ey7VwdlgGu0.html Thats the Aegus Maxx sleeping bag. Really light, super cheap, and warm enough. I have never had a cold night sleeping in it. For the price, weight, and size you must give it a shot. On cold nights i sleep in my clothes. Highly recommend this sleeping bag.

Dude you are an animal knocking out the miles you do with those giant tires. Sure, there is that downhill, but you have to claw your way up first. Be well.
@mochunk

Bigger tires, when made well and supple set up tubeless at moderate pressures can roll surprisingly fast on rough terrain. Worth the tradeoff in top end.
