Greenland was uninhabited at the time of Eirik the Red's exile, The Inuit people made their way there when glaciers formed a path for them to migrate, which was after Eiriks generati0n, Greenland had thriving Viking settlements by then.. I could be wrong though, my knowledge of the Greenlanders is quite rusty to say the least... 🤔😅

Wow! Viking ruins in Greenland is a dream of mine. Need to figure out how to get my dog there & I'm on it. Seeing the actual materials they used (& them!) is really cool~

Nice Elley. Very rugged landscape. It probably looks just like it did when the Vikings lived there. I would love to see icebergs. I'm glad you got to dip in the hot springs. Thanks so much for sharing an amazing trip.

I was stationed at Thule AB in the mid 90s. Such a beautiful country. You Brought those memories back! I'm curious where that Fjord is in relation to where I was. You are absolutely correct, I have not seen any technology yet that can truly capture the beauty of those ice bergs.

I wonder what the wooden barrels were used for? Fresh water? Something else?

Barrels like these were made in Greenland until late 1960's/early 1970's, and were used for a lot of purposes. Keeping salted or dried foods as meat, fish, salt, sugar, wheat/grain and were also used as small freight containers. Easy to transport rolling them, and light enough to handle without a crane, even full of goods. Greetings from Greenland. 🇬🇱🇩🇰
