This is something that has been consistent in the Pokemon games…graveyards most games don’t even feature farms but they there are always places for dead pokemon
@@thesludgeking The most logical answer is Ghost types need a place to be caught… but then how come other types don’t get an exclusive biome besides water types … my theory is that I might have something to do Japanese culture perhaps…
@cringecorps they do get exclusive biomes. Forests, snowy places, deserts, ruins,.. there's plenty of places which give pokemon their own habitats just like graveyards do for ghosts
@@WonDodoBebe I should have phrased that better obviously there are forests caves and bodies of water… but other less common types don’t have place in each gen like ghost types there isn’t a place just for fighting, psychic, fairy etc … you got places like the dragons den but not as consistent as graveyards or haunted houses… gen 2 is the exception since misdreavous is at mt silver maybe its a bit of stretch and I haven’t played the last 2 gens so I may be wrong
@cringecorps fairies had their own forest in gen 6, electric types have power plants, poison types had sewers at one point, psychics are usually paired with ghost or poison types in ruins and graveyards. It's all very exclusive biomes for each types.
There’s something so humanizing about someone outright stating their Pokémon nickname. So often people in the Pokémon universe just use the names of their Pokémon when referring to them but someone giving a nickname to an Onix makes this encounter feel all the more personal
Visiting Techtonix at Memorial Pillar IS my favorite gravesite. Sticks out to me more because it's more unique than just another graveyard to explore. It's less about the theme and more about the respect that did not need to be included but the world is all the better because of it. I also nickname Steelix after the dearly departed in memorial as well. R.I.P. Techtonix, this one goes out to you.
In Kalos, Route 14, there are a lot of stones that resemble headstones. To me, it always came off like a gravesite a long time ago that eventually became paved into a bog with a manageable path to traverse through. Considering all the phantump too I’d consider it’s still an area where people get lost and ultimately meet their end
Oh wow, I really love this video. It’s a very nice and honest feeling look at these locations that can seem almost out of place in what most would call a children’s game without going full on into strange clickbait theory’s. I’ve always really liked that Pokémon games have graveyards, it feels like a fitting inclusion in a series that emphasizes how important the bond between people and their Pokémon is, putting a Pokémon to rest and honoring its memory after the eventual end of its life cycle feels like the natural conclusion to that bond.
2:20 the issue is that he didnt switch it for something stronger, he still has one suspiciously empty team slot, no trainer would intentionally handicap their team like that, because having a 6th pokemon, even if its mid tier and not top tier, is very helpful.
There’s a bit in BW’s postgame where you go to celestial tower and Alder is at the top, he’ll tell you a little more about his first partner pokemon and you can challenge him at the Pokémon league after you ring the bell.
to me its more sad for one person to remember you then no one. one person means someone you care about is still alive still suffering rather then being at peace, i wouldn't want that even if im dead. i wouldn't want my brothers to suffer because of me.
we’ve been lacking spooky places ever since Gen 7, they literally peaked there with all sorts of spooky and decided to never bother anyway in later games here’s some random ruins no one asked about instead
The trainers aren’t crazy in the pokemon tower, they are possessed by a ghost. When you battle you don’t battle them, you battle the ghost. Upon victory they go back to their self.
Kind of intriguing that when you make an offering to Techtonix, you receive a TM for a move that becomes stronger with a status ailment. I wonder if there's a connection between that and how Techtonix may have died.
The original name for facade translates to bravado, so I think it’s mostly meant to symbolize how the trainer is keeping up a brave front. Unfortunately, lost in translation.
I've always assumed that all ghost types are alive (in the classic sense) because most of them can breed, eat, sleep, etc. And that the classification is because so many ghost types do seem to have some ability to go be intangible hence the normal and fighting immunity or it's some creature who can wear something (Mimikyu) or control things like Rotom which might be alive only in that it's capable of thought and speech. Also, I don't think the PokeDex is fully accurate for a lot of Pokemon Ghost type or not. Of course, it's more likely that it's just that Pokemon made ghosts who are somehow capable of laying eggs and making more ghosts (which if it wasn't Pokemon, I think the idea of ghosts hatching out of eggs would be just a very dark, but kinda funny joke) but what if "ghosts" are some sort of misidentified organism that humans in the Pokemon world can only understand as mythical ghosts? And given Pokemon's high intelligence, maybe much like Mimikyu, a lot of ghosts play into human myth to be played with? If there was a region that had an ancient Egypt era, whose to say Yanmask and it's evolution weren't just copying local customs? But they're very much not dead?
I was always confused why Cubone couldn't be seen without the Silph Scope. I know it's associated with death and all, but why can't the grassland dinosaur Ground-type be seen without the ghost tracking device - how do people even know it exists at that rate? It's not like the Silph Scope was being sold in shops. Memorial Pillar always guts me - I thought the pillar itself was Tectonix's tail, like it was so big on such a small piece of land it could only be buried vertically. I've also thought about Pokemon lifespans, but I always figured they were magical creatures so unless they got sick, eaten, etc. they could live forever, if not a very long time. Absol is said to live 100 years, as well as Onix which leads to its evolution, which hurts even more thinking about Tectonix and the Metal Coat. Meanwhile, the Pokemon Adventures manga says Venomoth has a short lifespan, so I dunno.
Cubone just must be a ghost I guess lol. I bet it was just easier somehow to make all spawns imperceptible. The lore implications of taking that straight though are interesting. Memorial Pillar is so special to me
