The chemistry this cast has, man. There's something so perfect about the Keeper having to pop into the middle of a conversation between investigators to remind them of their leads, because both the players and the investigators are just spiralling into confusion ... Chef's kiss. It just makes me want to hunt down a group and start playing. Chaosium, thanks for a lovely series. (again)

@@belindacornish1060 ok awesome, well you know the half goul guy, is it mr seech or mr sleech or something like that, (peter Simpson's ally) he mentioned the flesh of the corrupted corpses tastes sweet and sickly? Mark also mentioned that when one of the players got near the body of Cyrus he smelled fruity and floral.. later when describing the smell and taste of the furniture that has been licked clean he says it is fruity or floral.. that's the same description.. so the corpses are involved somehow in cleaning the place lol

@@belindacornish1060 and there's definitely something weird going on with the mud used (duh" you probably think 🤔) but i wonder if there is an Eldridge horror living in the muddy pond where the mud is extracted. The creature is related to moths and maybe is a "moth mother " in some way, these moths somehow consume the heart and keep the bodies alive (and people's memories stay for a bit like with cyrus - before the heart crumbles into moths 🦋

This was great. I loved how everyone really came alive. Archibald with his past. Vic with the great distressing with the twine. Betty being catty and mean. And Theodore dealing with death. This was an amazing chapter for all these characters. 100% loved it.

the guy playing Archibold is amazing, i loved him as micky psyches, but as Archibold i just love the RP, him putting on the glasses and everything, i was so invested i was hoping he'd make a successful role on helping the old guy with his skin issues! theodore also very good and emotional. betty's a good comedic character. and i love the reactions of vic when creepy stuff is happening, their expressions and eyes like look shocked

So nice to see some effort; costumes and a set rather than a series of zoom boxes. I appreciate this has a production budget but it really helps the atmosphere and immersion. Top level stuff!

same, it really is worth it, much preferred to the zoom things. seeing the different camera angles and the way the players interact with each other - like archibold reaching over to hold vic's shoulder as he comforts them

Frankly as long as the gameplay is imaginitive and fun, i don’t care if it’s Zoom style… as long as the microphones are good. Visual impact isn’t everything, the game itself has to be interesting, fun, and ideally player interactions should have a sense of fun/humor, too. The last one is what i’m missing here, it’s quite good but it’s so serious, and i don’t get that sense of a clever group of players enjoying themselves. Which is why i watch live-plays. This is good of course, just a bit serious for my tastes.

I'm not sure why but CoC actual plays are the only ones I can consistently consume. I just love them so much. I originally only intended to watch Andrew Leman's episode as I'm a lifetime member of the H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society (Leman is one of the founders) but this ended up making me subscribe to Chaosium's channel and follow this particular series. Given the other comments I've seen, I'll probably check out Bookshops of Arkham, too.

I am a huge fan of these Actual Plays and I think they do a great job immersing the viewer in the atmosphere, characterization, and narrative of Arkham. In this episode, however, it seemed like they got to a point where they decided more exposition was needed to push the story forward and to me it seemed a little forced and didn't evolve organically and naturally out of what came before. It seemed to change rather drastically from a story nudged along expertly by Mark Meer, the keeper of arcane lore, to more of an expository session revealing character background information that I feel would have been better if revealed more gradually throughout the 4 episodes. I know these are very short Actual Plays and they want to move the narrative along, but I just think it was handled a little clumsily in this episode.

Mr. Sleet is a Ghoul… though one who has not quite completed his metamorphosis. Both he and Peter were created for this scenario, so you won’t find them in the Arkham sourcebook.

Lol. "I don't wanna make anyone an accomplish." Right after they had, as a group, charmed their way past everyone, and would have definitely gotten that nurse fired if they had managed to put the lady down. "You can tell since his coat is there that he is present." I really hope his players didn't need that pointed out, but given some of their questions.... The storyteller is surprisingly lenient with the sanity rolls. Definitely should have received one after Peter led them to the half ghoul thing they talked to (forgot the name he gave)

yes i don't want to question a player's decisions since they are all doing an incredible role but i found it strange archibold wanted to inject the old lady immediately, like why do that and risk getting injected himself! and if he succeeded what would he say? the nursing home would call the police!

yeh i wish he lost sanity points when archibold realised the old woman and cyrus too were corpses, they all should have lost sanity and even archibold being a medicine man potentially lose much more, maybe he could be made to roll an intelligence check and if he succeeded he would lose alot more sanity or if failed he would think he's made a mistake with his analysis

Oh boy! We gonna be getting some answers next episode whether we want them or not! More moth bodies, MORE of this “mud” talk, more snooty people getting and being sus, there’s something going on here and it’s not gonna be good! I think there’s something about these “retreats” them ladies are going on. Something that changes them into these real creepy ladies. The ones that survive at least. I’m still not convinced ANY OF THEM LADIES ARE ACTUALLY HUMAN ANYMORE. Very interested to see how this Eleanor Birch figures into all this. Is she the leader of this whole thing? Is Mr & Mrs Holbrook the leaders? Is it EVERY RICH GUY that wants their wives turned into golems? We’re gonna find out!

I'm so split. On the one hand I LOVE watching these for the story and how things unfold, and I appreciate greatly the efforts of everyone on stage to provide the most immersive experience possible. On the other hand... when the players monologue in character and try to improvise their lines for minutes at a time it always feels forced and hokey and a liiiiiiittle cringe to me.

Players currently wrecking the clubhouse of a threatening antagonist: "just one more question, how fat is yo mama?" The threatening antagonist: "well she is rather large I suppose but aren't you leaving?" I love this series so far, but like...bro you can't engage in civil dialogue with a guy that just threatened you WHILE YOU'RE ALSO wrecking his house!!!

Do you know how they say, “the plot thickens like a good roux“; if this plot gets any thicker, it’s gonna turn into sludge. This has been a fun ride, and I’m glad I’m not one of the investigators trying to keep all of these loose ends straight.

H.P. Lovecraft books have been my teenager reading . All the 4 giant books with all H.P.'s opera . How does this relate? Chtulu, in the title apart ?

game is set in the mythological universe Lovecraft created with old eldricht beings working in the background as insignificant humans think they are the crown of creation

@dmeep sounds interesting. Probably i am gonna follow the serie . Do you know how can I read all H.P. operas but in the original language . Google doesn't allow access to the original language . Thank you for the info☺️

@@MzuMzu-nx1em Lovecraft was american so english was the original language and i am certain you can find readings of the stories themselves on youtube and if you prefer e-books im sure there are places you can find them and a well sorted bookstore should be able to help you out if you prefer paperbooks

@dmeep I presume by the translation that H.P. used soemkind of arcaic English ....thu instead of you , at least sometimes .
