GravGrip - Battery free stabilization ($35) unboxing, review 

I am 60 seconds in and already I know more about how it goes together than from almost an entire year of following the kickstarter updates. You already have my thumbs up for that alone.

I've just received mine today and I've spent almost 2 hours trying to figure out how to make it work correctly with my phone x_x Although I've read the guide and watched their video, it either doesn't work or the learning curve to use is VERY STEEP. I'll keep on trying but I've found it extremely frustrating. That, and the fact that I've also backed for a "tripod adapter" that was *exactly* the same piece as the "action camera adapter", so I've paid for an extra unit of something that I was already getting for free. I'm super disappointed overall, I had high hopes for it. (EDIT: They've refunded me for the adapter)

I got mine yesterday and I guess I was hoping for something else - well, I was hoping it would work, but looking at it, it just tries to stabilize 1 axis, and does a bad job at it. $41.00 down the drain...

I've watched the grav grip user guide video to set it up with my Hero 9 and it seems to work in house. I'm going to test it out on the trails as I'll be using it for mountain biking. I think I got it to work. The key for me was the long male threads that the weights screw on to, they are on a ball and I had to tilt that with the weights to stabilize correctly. I was expecting it to be made of metal. Instead its made of cheap plastic. I have a feeling the parts won't last. Nothing wrong with plastic but if its cheap plastic it won't hold up. Might do a review on my channel after some testing. But as of now, in house, it seems to work with the GoPro H9B. We'll see out there on the trails.

I got mine also a few days ago... I give up! after screwing it around for an hour! Well, it is only $35 so I just wanted to give it a try! But I already have my DJI Osmo Mobile 4... I think I going to stick with that.

Haven't received mine and watching all these videos has prepared me not to expect much... But hey no one to blame but myself..😂 😁 😀

There is a reason the only video they show on their website are from snowboards and skateboards going low to high and back on a GoPro. The training video talks about "awesome results" but doesn't show any. You just see some dude moving the selfie stick around a single axis and no actual video of the results he got. I doubt I'll ever use it. Look for the Japanese guys video here on RU-vid where he strapped it to his bike, then did demos with and without the GravGrip. He couldn't see any difference and neither could I. I bought the selfie stick and it is pretty decent if I can figure out how to use it with an iPhone without the GravGrip. Not the first time I've lost money on Kickstarter or Indiegogo. That's part of the fun, wondering if it will actually work. This one doesn't. Don't waste your money. So far, I have two items where I will never use the device and I wasted my money. This is one. Another was called DG Rule, supposed to be a multi-port adapter for MacBooks. It overheated and spewed so much RF into the air it made my WifI fail. The product developer got some nice coin making a useless item that ended up in the landfill. But I do support innovation and small business and I'm not bitter. I didn't lose more than I could afford. And they do say there are risks involved in backing projects online. The guys behind Kickstarter and Indiegogo are the smartest ones in the room. They make money off the top, whether the product works or fails

It seems like everyone who uses it with their phones are not happy, please keep sharing your thoughts on comments, is there anyone who used it with GoPro? I find it pretty good with that

I bought it too. The oil pressure setting is incorrect. It is a defective product. It doesn't work at all. I want a refund.

Got it yesterday. Watched several vids. maybe for a sport cam it might work, but for iPhoneX? not a f_ckin' chance! got caught in the same spot regardless of counterweight position. Popped the lid and found the idler gear (which is what actually provides the resistance this fu_kin huckster called 'hydraulic' resistance). News for yo, Mr. GravGrip... this ain't hydra-anything. Just shit plastic with crappy post-mold work and over the F time from initial estimate. Cant wait to see your next project so we can sound the alarm so others don't get shanghai'd

I greatly appreciate you for posting this but it would be nice to get your actual opinion on the GravGrip. This video basically shows us how to use it but it did not give us an actual review of the item. Do you like it? Dislike it? What are the pros and cons? Would you use this for your cell phone or action camera or both?

I got this today, it sucks.

Just got mine a few days ago. I definitely can't replicate the footage that was on the promo video, although I do have a GoPro4 so that may be partly to explain (no in-camera stabilizer). I'll want to see what their "fix" will be with the new hydraulics part that is supposed to be released

I had high hopes but honestly after watching the their instruction video twice I can still not get it to work with my GoPro OR with my phone. And that camera mount thing, yeah I paid for another one because I didn't realize it either that the tripod mount is the same. I guess it will go onto my pile of useless items for now. One thing I noticed is how GravGrip disabled comments on their video. I guess they realize how many people would not be too happy about it. Like everyone else here, it was a waste of money!

My experience with it is that it's not worth it. It won't make it in my bag of tools. Hard to believe there's anything hydraulic in there. I was shocked to find out that the only thing that is restricting the roll speed is not even in the main frame itself. It's the gear piece that is on the removable cover. If you remove the cover, there's no resistance. All of the resistance is in the tiny gear on the cover and there's nothing "hydraulic" looking in it. Just looks like a gear centered around a rubber piece with lubricant. My honest opinion is that all of the "stabilization" it's claiming is probably 95% the digital stabilization of the iphone or the gopro. The one i received, it's not fluid. Its sticky so it takes a bit of roll before it actually gives and starts to roll back. By the time it does that, the horizon is noticeably tilted. If i take out the "hyrdraulic" cover it's free flowing and at that point, it just rocks back and forth after any movement.

I had to sand the moving plastic parts because the weight of my Note 10 Plus made them touch. If I remove the gear, the phone rocks too much. If I put the gear in, the effect doesn't work. I had to cut a piece of the rubber that holds the cell phone in order not to crush the cell phone's power button and be centralized. Assembly at the top, because at the bottom, the set itself is in front of the screen, impairing the recording. Too bad to adjust and nothing functional. I really didn't like it one bit.

Seems like it works well one way but not the other, kinda disappointing as a backer still waiting to get theirs :/

Just got mine. Absolutely useless with my phone. When I finally get it to stay level instead of leaning off to one side, it just swings back and forth every time I stop moving. Utter rubbish Update : I took the front cover off the “hydraulics” and found that the gear had come loose. A quick tightening of the screw and now it performs much better with my phone. The jury is still out on its usefulness, but now I feel like it has some kind of potential, at least

Is that the OnePlus 7 Pro?

I'm so disappointed with mine. Doesn't really work at all with my phone (OnePlus 3T). Maybe because it's too light, only 3/4 of an iPhone 11. I've tried every possible configuration and watcher their setup video several times, but it doesn't really explain what I should do if it's too fast or slow, just "try some shit out, see what works for you". Paid for an extra "action camera mount" because they weren't clear in their product description, the extension pole doesn't tighten properly, and the plastic tool used to tighten screws and shit is made of such cheap plastic that it broke almost immediately. Perfect example of "you get what you pay for".

So where are the 2 metal disks? Not in my kit. The action on this product is so sticky that it's worse than hand held... Waste of money :(

Now I am sad I bought one after reading these reviews. I think their promo footage is made with a 3 axis gimble just to sell their shit

Its absolutely garbage. Footage comes out terrible in either orientation even with extra weight on the setup to compensate.

Have been trying to use it for a week and the footage is no good. Not much of a stabilization. Wasted my money.

I am very disappointed with this product. It does very little to stabilize my GoPro Hero 7 Black. Not even close to the results shown in their promo videos. The sad part is, I was about to cancel my order just before shipping but changed my mind. Oh well.

I got mine on today, that's a rubbish design for any phones, cannot use for the stabilization and even bad than in-phone electronics stabilization too. Wasted the $$$.
