Recently, a high-ranking defence official from Australia warned U.S. and allies of the imminent threats in the Indo-Pacific region. Australia's deputy defence secretary for strategy, Hugh Jeffrey, said that China and Russia have ramped up their weapons production and Australia and the U.S. must boost their own industrial cooperation as a result.

The difference between the US MIC and the Chinese and Russian MICs is that the US factories are privately owned and profit driven, whereas the Chinese and Russian factories are state owned and purpose driven; hence the latter can elevate production much quicker and to a greater extent as and when required. Russia in particular is far more battle ready than any other major nation state; be this conventional or nuclear readiness.

You have to look at the industrial base and the number of high quality technical engineers that graduate from universities. There China had an enormous advantage over the entire west. In the end the US will lose a confrontation. They find that impossible to swallow. But some way of peaceful coëxistence is the only survival chance. That requires a different type of leaders.

Perhaps there is a misunderstanding. In democratic countries, it can be challenging to increase defense budgets as compared to authoritarian regimes like China, Russia, and North Korea. Democratic governments must convince the public of an imminent threat and provide conclusive evidence to justify increasing defense budgets. In the case of India, the government often relies on Russian weapons. While it may portray these weapons as state-of-the-art and modern, the reality may be quite the opposite.
