This will end up damaging Europe than Russia. Even Russians know that, Americans interest is never Ukraine. US can supply as many weapons as possible to Ukraine, but they will never defeat Russians that way. Keep in mind, Americans have to supply other weapons to Taiwan as well, protecting Japan from N. Korea strikes. The war will expand to the point that, US will have to deal with all enermies at once.

USA is also damaging itself. When Biden can immediately billions worth of weapons to another country, why can’t he spend billions helping his own citizens? We have our own problems to deal with. Infrastructure issues, homelessness, crime, inflation, etc.

This is my opinion. Macron is one of the western leaders that is displaying remarkable statecraft and foresight on the Russian - Ukraine conflict. One of three EU leaders that commands credibility with the warring parties. We cannot view Biden and Washington in this esteemed regard. Strategically, the Macron European vision creates a imminent threat to Washington influence in Europe. This process will take time. Washington is not interest in a negotiated settlement or ceasefire regarding this conflict. America's overwhelming priority is a sustainable flow of lucrative profits for its top five military defense companies, their shareholders and military contractors. A continued conflict means trillion of dollars for the US. No one should be upset with such profit flow? A rupture in the transatlantic alliance with produce dividends for China, Russia and even India, especially on free trade agreements.

Maybe, he doesn't seem to have allies though 8 years ago was a different matter, Merkel was his right hand and primary proxy negotiator, these days there is noone. If France wants to reach Russia (and Ukraine for that matter) but make it bigger and not just bilateral, they would need to sacrifice ratings and all "PR" stuff and call for either Austria represents or Orban, so that's too "eye-popping" event for the collective West so Ukraine's literally at the mercy or ruthlessness between the West and Russia (at least till one side changes stance, or the other loses the whole war) And yes, years will pass until people realise this, that literally THE DUO of France and a strong/independent representation by Germany (call Merkel what you like but as opposed to this laughable coalition, she had both authority and diplomatic power) kept peace alive for as long as possible Trump was also less of a "bonehead" than Biden in terms of relations with Europe and Russia, but still, that combination of changes was fatal for the conflict overall 🤔

Macron understands ANY war in Europe effects all of Europe. And most importantly he also understands that US has nothing to lose but everything to gain from keeping the conflict alive in Europe. Biden was initially opposed to the idea of US getting involved but his camp sees this as another opportunity to sway votes in the US.

@Anthony Q f*** history, It’s looking like US is pushing for a WW3 and also the ideas of pushing NATO to east do indeed seem a threat for Russia (since they are pushing even now, once NATO is expanded eastward it’s gonna take seconds for the US to declare Russia as “an Empire of evil, we declare war”. Had NATO expansion never happened i.e. Ukraine remained a neutral buffer state, everything would have been peaceful.

I don't support people being killed in Ukraine or the war but you are not seeing who's actually controlling the war and benefiting from it while people in Ukraine die!! I think if the primary goal was the save people in Ukraine and/or prevent war or could've been done easily at the world level but I feel that it wasn't the main goal at all. Ukraine is just a scape goat. I really wish this war end soon!

Well, I knew an American from Alabama, he did not liked much his state, he did not liked much to farm the family lands and went to college just to settle after in Europe where he did other studies and stood for decades (his children speak English with a French accent although they went to the States to work). He told me something interesting at the time the US Army was invading Irak back in 2003: "Americans are naive and can be fooled easily by their politicians". Now, I do understand this. But the question is why you don`t ask them when they are in campaign what intentions they have after being elected. I think that this way would be easier as things are well known as external policy showed a lot of wars and interventions. Here's the problem with negotiations with Russia, Ukraine can't afford to have Russia hold on to the southern part of Ukraine, nor can it allow Russia to hold the Donbass area's that it took since the invasion started. In short it can't allow Russia to keep any of the territory that Russia has taken. On the other side, Russia can't give up the southern part of Ukraine that it has taken. So there is no room to negotiate as letting Russia keep it's gains in order to not "embarrass" Putin spells the economic death of Ukraine.

well he hasn't removed zelensky, he hasn't de-militarized ukraine(quite the opposite), he hasn't 'denazified' Ukraine, since you can't remove something that doesn't exist in the first place, he's still lying about his troop and equipment losses to save face in mother russia... so unless there is some turning tide in the next few weeks, putin will be in exactly the same spot or maybe even pushed back, depends on a few critical moves. not sure how you squeeze victory from that? its not like tensions will disappear even if an agreement is reached, there is a forever rift between people who used call each other brother.
