Two important things that India should become self-reliant 1) Semiconductors 2) Commercial jet engines and planes 3) Nuclear power plant technology and safety. First one started already. Modi govt. should start working on commercial jet engine technology. It's a long road but the work should start now. Also, nuclear power plants, to reduce our energy dependency on foreign sources.
