The Russians stopped shipment of fighter planes some time back, too. It turns out they were caught copying plans and reverse engineering the fighter. So Russia cut them off. The Chinese went ahead and copied the technology, but it did not do as well, so they had to be *very* apologetic as they turned to the Russians again! That won't be so easy this time.

Russia has older, shorter range defenses that are good against an F-16. The S-400 is more suited against the Stealth Bomber.

There is one thing I don't understand. So far there have been 2 world wars both having a devastating effect. This should be an era where peace must be promoted, then why the hell are countries buying such weapons. If you want peace with your neighbours cooperate with them in a positive way instead of accumulating fire power under so called "self defence".

Although Russia is India' s friend but still in the end, Russia will support China as it needs China to counter the USA. All of this "postponement" of S400 would be in consultation with the CCP. It's not a big deal. Don't always go by what is shown to you. Russia is still the biggest arms exporter to China with their defence deals going up to more than 30 billion dollars just in 2019. Russia is playing a much smarter game by showing China as the main face and hiding behind its actions.
