There's a book called "The Noodle maker of Khalimpong", written by the Dalai Lama's brother. He was active in the movement for Tibetan autonomy for many years and met people like Zhou Enlai and Deng Xiaoping. He didn't like the Chinese much but his biggest regret was getting involved with the CIA. They supported the Tibetan rebels and then suddenly dropped them when Nixon decided to make friends with the Chinese as a counter to the Soviet Union. Whatever you think about the Tibet question, don't be fooled into thinking these moves by right-wing Americans have anything to do with helping the Tibetan people, they are entirely designed to put pressure on China.

Nothing going to happen in tibet. Indians had a good opportunity in Nehru’s time to recognise tibet as independent country and provide economic and military protection together with western help. Most important they have raise the Standard of Living in Tibet. The average income of Tibetan is 3 times the average income of Indian. Almost all homes including outlying farm villages are connected to electrical power grid.and internet. After they finished building the new hydroelectric dam on the Tsangpo Yarlung River, electricity is almost free. The government also built 400 greenhouses to provide vegetables all year round. They built a new modern sport stadium in Lhasa that seats 20,000 spectators. India should spent more time and energy in raisnig the Standard of Living of Indian people instead of wasting it bashing China.

China go ballistic when the forced occupation of Tibet, Taiwan, East Turkistan & lnner Mongolia is raised. That was where the British wanted to make as the border in early 1900, but NEVER accepted by the Chinese governments, which was how today’s Indo-China border dispute created. It might not happen in the near future, but lets assume for a minute or two that China and Tibetan government in exile come to a table leaving all the differences aside so that the Tibetan children in exile could return to their motherland and live happily. What will happen to those countries that play with the differences between the two countries??😮

There are about 500 Tibetans-in-exile tried to re-enter China legally. Tibetan ancestors were originally from north east China.
