Honestly, Stan is much smarter than alot of people give him credit for. Don't forget, he managed to successfully rebuild the portal with only 1/3rd of the Schematics for 30 years! In fact, when he got Journals 2 and 3, he only needed a few lines of code to activate it! If that's not a genius, I don't know what is!
Honestly, bill is kinda dumb. He just uses his unbounded mind for random stuff. Thats why he makes a throne of stone people and partying instead of actually helping world domination like he wants. Bill Cipher is Stupid
You could even argue Stanley is even smarter than Stanford in some ways, considering Stanford could only build the portal thanks to the help of Bill Cipher, but Stanley only needed a part of the blueprint to build an almost complete portal. Not to mention he had to improvise 2/3rds of it for many years.
I think Wendy should have been a little higher and I also think Dipper is slightly smarter than Stanley. I’ve suggested this before, but Loki characters: Good to Evil.
@@NickAndriadze yeah but Stan’s been living on his own for 30 years so he has the ability to think on his feet when it came down to emergencies like when he exposed Gideon for being a con artist
Say what you want but Craz and Xyler had a really deep intellectual moment at the end of the 2nd to last episode. Even quoting the French Philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre "Every existing thing is born without reason, prolongs itself out of weakness, and dies, by chance"
I think the smartest character in Gravity Falls is the Axolotl, since the creature seems to be all knowing and potentially all powerful since Bill cipher attempts to call upon it to preserve his consciousness in another form during his final moments.
Bill was also smart too but he was inferior in some things so he lost, he knows a lot about the surrounding or supernatural things so I think Bill is worthy of being 2nd or 3rd in the smartest and Stan too
Bill being placed the lowest on the thumbnail gave me a really, really good laugh. I mean come on, man, he's a god who has lived longer than our universe and knows more than every single Disney Channel character *combined* (Excluding The Core probably, because it is literally an immortal collective of Amphibia's smartest inhabitants), actually placing him as the lowest would straight up be a slap at the face of Alex Hirsch.
I really like the Dipper and Mabel are next to each other in the list. It was Hirsch’s intention for Dipper to be a smart kid, but within the realm of believability for a 12 year old. He’s a little smarter than Mabel, and while they are smart in different ways, their learning curve is similar within the environment they grew up in so I think it’s fitting.
I love how Blendin sounds so much like Morty Smith that he even stutters like Morty and says "aw, geez"; I like to think he's a future version of\descendant of Morty.
With regards to Ford, his actions even caused McGucket to lose the brilliance he initially had. By dragging him into that project with building the portal, and McGucket nearly entering the portal and almost losing it, it resulted in everything from Blind Eye Society, to of course the Memory Wiper which stripped him of so much, even his son. Ford had so much pride in his intelligence, and yet he even had to push someone else to rush their potential.
He also was the one to write warnings in invisible ink and sentences such as "When facing the Gremloblin use water...*next page* Only as a last resource since water will make him much more scary"
I wasn't expecting Stan to be that high because of all the reckless things he did but after hearing the explanation I can see it now. We mine as well chalk Bill in the last spot every gravity falls video lol.
Stan may seem dumb a lot of the time, but in the episode "not what he seems" he stated that he wasn't stupid. He knew about all of the wierd phenominons that were occuring in Gravity Falls and how to use them to his advantage as a con man. On top of that, he knew how to hide this knowledge and his plan of rebuilding the portal from everyone (which he ended up pulling off on his own). He tricked several people in many different states successfuly while still managing to keep his true identity a secret, and in the end was the very person to finally finish off Bill. He conned a literal all knowing and powerful demon. If anything, I would say this is even enough to put him at the bottom of the Genius category. Bravo Stan, Bravo.
I feel like Soos should've been near the bottom. He flirted with cardboard cutouts of girls twice (Once in Bottomless Pit and once in Soos and the Real Girl), and described wind as "some sort of invisible pushing force". I would probably put him in the spot between the police and Robbie, or at best, between Tyler and Mermando.
2:04 Ayo don’t do my man *Shmebulock* dirty like that. (*I think I spelled that right*). He was under a curse so he couldnt talk most of the time. But my man is wise as hell and even studied the Pines family cuz he knew they were ”diffrent”.
Pretty accurate list. Only two are out of place. Waddles is clearly a scholar and a gentleman. Meanwhile, Grenda has the intellect of a plastic shovel.
And then in the video it’s the exact opposite. This video came out before I had watched gravity falls, after watching the show, I thought “wtf!” Then I watched the video and it was the other way around lmao.

Things I'd like to point out about the Pines other than Stanford Stanley While he wa considered unintelligent, he was really quite lazy. He's an expert fighter, con artist, trickster, burgaler, gambler and much more relating to street smarts, planning and inginuity. He also was able to read up on many suposedly physics and chemistry books and was able to function the portal in a matter of few days, able to find out Gideon's plans and even (supposedly) came up with the final-final plan to defeat Bill and did so succsessfully. He is also a comic book writer aparently. He brought back the "Lil' Stanley" comic business, and supposedly the comic page "Gravitee Funnies" (which didn't seem to take off but I believe would have doen well {I believe it was Stan who wrote those because it does give credit to Soos for inspiration and a coded message in "LDiSV"}). He now travels with his brother searching for anomolies and doing who knows what, and he might even be aware Bill is in his mind, which is a possibility but it would make sense. He's wise and cunning but also a very caring gaurdian, and can be quite determined. Mabel As Dipper stated, she's far smarter than most give her credit. While she might be seen as weird she is an expert craftsman, able to quickly knit a sweater per day (and in Lost Legends, supposedly in a matter of moments wantin to give Pacifica a new sweater). She too is clever in situations but is often controlled by her emotions. That said, she can learn from her mistakes and can be very thoughtful when she sees the situation properly. She's also an expert in other arts, such as hitting a succesful run with the Cat-icature bisuness (honestly that is a sweet idea in my opinion), created a play that was mainly well recieved (the ending was, of course, ruined by Bill), an expert sculptor creating a life-like Stan, creating dresses for the Northwest Ball, and so on. She also seems to recognize things quite well and come up surprisingly accurate theories, such as discovering the vending machine was what the code was for before Dipper could realize, theorized the Benjamin Franklin was secretly a women and, as we know, was able to outsmart other people/beings too, such as the gnomes and even Bill in Dipper's body. What she may lack in academics, she greatly makes up in creative liberties. Dipper Dipper is quite the most impressive, in my opinion. We know he was able to deduce the perfect angle on how to throw a ball that essentially bypassed fate in a way and was able to defeat Gideon several times, but I think people also don't give him more credit for other things he's done. He's an expert at booksmarts, knowing where to look (most of the time) on research topics, knowing history and crytology, as well as American law funnily enough, accurately named several dinosaurs without needing research, and so on. He was also a three time finalist at middle school spelling bees, an expert at mind games (theoretically, he was able to beat Mabel at many games involving stratey and was a big fan of "Ds,Ds, and M Ds") and was even able to fix Blendin's Time Tape (aka, a mini TIMEMACHINE) as well as figure out the blueprint pages were for some sort of gateway or something, though quickly dismissing it. He is also incredibly observant, a quick strategist and detective, being able to spot Blendin several times in different time locations, though deducing him as a ghost, noticed Stan's odd platenumber, figured out how to get to the Secret Society of the Blind Eye, OUTSMARTED SHELCOK HOLMES (well, he was made of wax but it seems the wax figure personalities were the same as their counterparts) outsmarted a bunch of clones of HIMSELF, was able to help solve most mysteries of Gravity Falls, was able to create the perfect plan to get the Pines family into a movie theater with relative ease and quickly at that (also accurately predicting when the movie would most likely start), bringing 17 disposable cameras knowing they were going to lose quite a few, was able to trap the gremgoblin, something FORD had trouble beating, though that was mainly due to surprise but i digress, was able to solve other mysteries off screen (the giant bats), made a clever trap to capture a picture of the pterodactyl, found out he could possess a sock puppet as a body, was recognized by Ford and almost became his apprentice (when it comes from Ford, you know that says something), was able to survive weirdmaggedon much longer than most, was resilliant to Bill's paradice-like prison, and came up with the final plan to get into Bill's layer and distract him long enough to get to Ford. While he can be an overthinker, jump the gun at times and even be a bit irrational, he's incredibly wise and able to learn from his mistakes as well. Looking back, the Pines family is just a group of Geniuses or something because this was quite impressive. Seriously, what does the future hold for them all?!
