This is a brief overview + dev supercut of the features of my [Gravity Rush]x[DMC]x[ExoOne] tech demo/dev exercise. Essentially what I wanted to do was get out of my 2d comfort zone and try to learn multiple programming aspects of 3d games in one go. The main topics I wanted to focus on were:
- 3D Math basics
- Animation transitions
- Animation State ↔ Logic State syncing
- How to structure action combat systems

Gravity Rush is one of my all time favorite games and besides being a really fun game has some very unique player states and 3d challenges that I thought would be fun to implement. (Also I hoped this would let me cope with GR2 not ever getting ported to pc. But actually made it worse ;-;. Sony pls.)
DMC is the pinnacle of combat design and ExoOne's momentum based flying and smooth trigger based gravity controls would be a nice complement to the base features of GR.
