I don’t think they care about the baleen getting taken off… I think they’re just being friendly and looking for affection and reaching out! This is such a beautiful short video with these women and these whales!!!
For some people, it's a once-in-a-lifetime experience to be able to get that close to the whales, knowing that she can kill you with a flick of her tail and breaching too close to the boat would make it a very bad day but to touch her, kiss her and rub her baleen hell let's throw swimming with her in the mix. More than likely I would probably start to cry to be in the presence of such beauty. 🇨🇦🕊
Scenes like this are especially amazing when you consider that there are many whales still alive who survived the commercial whaling industry. You know, when we selfishly and ruthlessly decimated their families? Yet they now will trust us enough to come within reach and let us touch their babies. I don't know about you, but I find that truly humbling.
@@memedealer4208 There's a RU-vid channel of a couple who shelter bears and other animals. The bears, since they were cubs. Even had Kodiaks at some point. They are _very_ cuddly.
This was INCREDIBLE! It reminded me of my own pooch. Looking at this a world away is breathtaking, I can’t imagine the feeling of actually being the one touching it and feeling it’s energy! Thank you for this!!
Our next door neighbors were baleen whales. They asked us over to dinner every night but eventually you just have to find an excuse because I swear every night was krill. I mean damn.

When I was a kid I was at the Brisbane museum and remember seeing a piece of baleen sitting on a table and I had to touch it haha it's not there anymore 🙁 they also had the skull of a blue whale on display and it was incredible and that's gone too 😤
I totally understand wanting to interact with a whale- and worked with reef relief in Florida alongside" Summer" a pygmy sperm whale in the mid/late 1990's (and though I could have; I never touched her-even when she approached me and rolled to look at me-many times- she was a baby/juvenile and minimal contact was best for her to stay wild) So my question is... isn't this unethical and also illegal? because the whales get used to boats and human activity and approach them and then are maimed/killed cut open... by boat bow and prop strikes, which then can lead to them dying slow agonizing painful death from bleeding-/prolonged infection-sharks etc.

Apparently these are part of a whole new generation of Grey whale that have not been hunted by humans and no longer fear these whale watching boats. Really awesome
