The cover crops are the best we ever had. The cows do love it. The cover crops are sweet. Some of what we plant they make sorghum syrup. Thanks for watching!!

You were right. The closer the drone gets, they really start ringing their tails. That is funny.

It looks like the Sudan did not regrow for second grazing. Is this correct?
@RussWilson
@RussWilson 3 месяца назад
You are correct! After it goes to seed it will not regrow.

Looks great. Have you tried adding cowpea to your corn? It use to be great fodder addition but lost favor for some reason🎉
@RussWilson
@RussWilson 11 месяцев назад
Yes I have tried cowpeas for some reason they don't do well here. wish they did cause cow peas are a great plant.

40 days on 5 acers? How many units?
@RussWilson

There was 80 animal units. It really extended the grazing season. Thanks for watching!!

@@RussWilson Quite impressive! Was that 40 days continuous this field only, rotating throughout the duration, or 40 days of grazing total, rotating through other fields? Awesome channel!

What will you plant in the sorghum field next year?

I plant winter rye based cover crop. After we graze that we will most likely put it back in to Sorghum Sudan based cover crop.

Hey Russ good vid! Help me with the math and cost per head per day with $100 land cost $55 seeding and seed, times 8 acres = 1240$ divided by 400 grazing days is $3.10 per head per day!! Seems high iknw your building soil but. Did I miss something? Thanks keep making vids
@RussWilson
@RussWilson 2 года назад
You missed a step in your math. land cost $100 + Seeding $55 X 8 Acres = $1240 for 8 acres 400 grazing per acre X 8 acres = 3200 total grazing days $1240.00/ 3200 total grazing days = $0.39 per animal unit grazing day Trying to figure this stuff out can be very confusing sometimes. Thanks for the great question!!

I’d run pasture pigs in the field after the cows. They’d get fat!
