Hi GrblGru- Thank You for this program and your videos! I have a lathe that I am running Mach3 on. I am anxious to give this a test drive. Can you make the .dxf of the chess piece available to try?
@grblgru I have a small Denford VMC and Denford Lathe i am upgrading. I was using linuxcnc until i came across this. what are the chances of running your program on a pi? i will be looking to run my GRBL controller on ESP32 for a higher step rate as servos have replaced the original steppers. I am also looking at controlling the lathe steppers in the same way but have an 8 position tool changer can the program control this? So very impressed with the program, i have been looking for an alternative for over a year.
I have been asked this question several times and I would be happy if GrblGru would run on LINUX. But unfortunately, I don't have any experience with Linux and so I have to rely on external help. So far nobody has managed it yet. :(
@@grblgru I am trying to run one of these machines ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sZjIik-pkoM.html With the tool changer. I am writing an arduino control for the tool changer itself but I will need to be able to send tool information to the auto changer from grbl
Good job! Like it very much! Now I need to finish the switch between the Electric Lead Screw and the arduino uno signal pins with 2 pcs. HD74LS157P. Can the program handle the backlash in the leadscrew? I have nearly 0.5 mm on Z axis and 0.25 mm on X axis.
I've been able to turn with your sample files but I can't seem to get how you make your dxf or svg or stl. I have tried severally, I even edit your sample files and they don't work still. Do you've instructions I can follow. Your app is a really good tool. Thanks.
Please open your DXF editor and load the file ChessKing.dxf from the example folder. The reference point is at the top right. The drawing must be in the negative X and negative Y range. Note that you do not draw a centre line or the part mirrored on the X axis.
good afternoon, please tell me if there is a backlash compensation in your program, a very interesting program I'm sitting studying but this parameter can not be found thanks in advance.
Nice. It is possible to add support for Lathe machines with two opposite knifes, who have a small offset between them? Basically just need to copy the toolpath of the first knife to the second knife with a delayed offset.
@@grblgru I do have a machine like that! A Cosen chinese one and the software witch with come the machine is pirated and a hell difficult to use! I am searching for a simpler way to generate gcode for this machine. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sxi_og_dczI.html
Thanks for the video. This is a complete second X-axis, working independently of the first. The GCode for such a machine is very focused on the corresponding workpiece. You can certainly optimize a lot for mass production of parts. For example, a strong tool for roughing and a small one for making certain contours. This is very interesting, but clearly outside the scope of my program. Sorry, I hope you have some understanding for this.
Hello Really great . Congratulations on the work accomplished. I installed beta V3.44.8 and I wonder if without cnc connected I can test GRBLgru. Why: ROUGH + FINISH I only have the choice PROFILE or THREADING while you have in the same tab: General - rough - finishing - tool
Hallo! Gefällt mir richtig gut das Tool. leider zeigt es mir den toolpath nicht richtig an, er ist nach links versetzt.. Version 3.49 Alles nach Anleitung gamacht. Was mache ich falsch?
I love this software, I use it on my home built 2 axis wood lathe. But, I have a question. After loading a dxf and creating a job. When I click on the Gcode creator button, nothing happens, no window or anything. Am I doing something wrong? using version 3.49.
Please load a file from the examples. For example "ChessKing.dxf". Then create a job with the template "rough + finish". The tool path must be displayed immediately. You do not need to press the button "GCode Creator". This must work. I just tested it again. If it works for you, take a look at the coordinate system of the example and compare it with your DXF file.
@@grblgru Yes, I have been using it to turn stuff for awhile now. It works great. I just was curious about the gcode creator button and why nothing happened when I clicked it. I have seen you use it a couple of videos , is all.
I'd like to thank you for GrblGru, I loved it. I'm using mach4 to run my lathe machine which is only 2 axis. But I have issue with the g code generated by Grblgru. it does not work properly. I think the issue related to Post-processor thing Is fare as I know. Can you help me please? Thanks
@GrblGru Hello. Please help. Eggbot I would like to use the rc servo has the lifting of the pen. What you need to edit in the program GRBLGRU (GRBL) Edit RC servo please settings tutoriál? Do not forget to set the RC servo slowly lifting and laying the pen otherwise the pen tip will be destroyed Thank answer
Sorry, but I only want to control CNC machines in my program (no servos). The Eggbot was just an example of a machine with 2 rotary axes. Please have a look at the inkscape plugin for the Eggbot. This is exactly what you are looking for.
Hi Mr.GrblGru, did you ever work on a mode where one could load up an .stl file instead of a profile? (I've been using grblgru on a lathe to carve out a profile and love that there is a FreeCAM option for that)
Sorry for the late reply. Can you please provide me with the GCode in the forum www.cnczone.com/forums/uncategorised-cam-discussion/311876-cnc-cam-forum-16.html
Yes, there's a trick to it. You just have to clamp your lathe tool turned 180° around its lengthwise axis. Then you work on the rear edge of the workpiece and you can use the normal automatic program.
