GRC (Glass Reinforced Concrete) Production at the TOVP
By Sadbhuja das
GRC, short for Glass Reinforced Concrete, is considered the best material to use for creating large decorative items that are strong and built to last, as well as simultaneously light and relatively inexpensive. About five years ago we decided to create our own in-house GRC factory to produce the pieces that we needed for the TOVP such as columns, cornices, ornaments and other embellishments. Through our pioneering efforts to refine workmanship the factory now has a reputation of being one of the best in the world, and often people come to learn from us how to replicate our processes.
The purposes for developing our own in-house factory are many and include the following:
1. Our GRC pieces are tailor-made to our specific needs
2. The craftsmanship of the work is far superior
3. The quality control is easily executed
4. The cost is much cheaper
To date we have produced almost 10,000 pieces, and that’s just for the external superstructure alone! We will soon be commencing with the internal temple pieces.
It is due to the efforts of Savyasachi prabhu, the developer of the factory and its processes, and Radha Ballabha prabhu, who has refined the production and overseen the actual artwork, that this factory is so successful. It is another indication that we are only using the best materials and procedures in building the TOVP to make it the beautiful and historic preaching project Srila Prabhupada wanted, and the new home for Sri Sri Radha Madhava, Sri Pancha Tattva and Sri Nrsimha.
We hope you enjoy watching.
