I guess there’s nothing more terrifying than a mass of high schoolers arriving on the first day of a school with a synchronized, choreographed dance and song.
In the 50s maybe it wasn't 😆...Reminds me of Michael Jackson's I'm BADD Video in a smaller way...Just a different time back than but you got to love it...
I went to a private school across the street from the high school where the movie was filmed during my senior year, and my father had a janitorial service and since we were the first in the phone book, Paramount Pictures called us to be the cleaning crew, and got to meet some of the cast and crew
"The Pink Ladies pledge To act cool! To look cool! And to be cool! Til death do us part, Think Pink!" I swear this is my favourite line in the song. I love how Dolores looks like she's high in the 'be cool' part!
What I found interesting about this movie is Frenchie. She returns to high school after graduation to further her studies. Not only that but she claims to be a close friend of Stephanie but doesn't speak a word to her the entire movie
They couldn't get back John, Olivia, Stockard, or Jeff for the sequel (all four of them rejected offers to be in Grease 2). So they tried to shove in as many other side characters from the first movie as possible to make up for it because they knew the audience really wanted the OG cast. Frenchy's inclusion and storyline is half baked and pretty unnecessary. She's there simply because she was a popular character from the first movie and they threw her in just cuz. Side-note: Frenchy does have some scenes that got deleted, but they weren't with Stephanie. All her scenes were almost exclusively with Michael, including the scenes that got deleted (she had a deleted scene where she's coaching Michael on how to walk and talk like a biker, and also a deleted scene at the Luau where she's trying to give Michael a pep talk to tell Stephanie the truth about his alter ego).
@@chrisspearline767 Because the movie had a lazy script that didn't care to develop its characters. They wrote a line where Frenchie says they're close friends and that's all you need to know. Frenchie is just randomly thrown in so they could have someone back from the original movie but the writing is so lazy they don't follow up with anything she says about herself. If anything, her character is a solely there as a plot device to be Michael's mentor. The whole script is bad... a lot of inconsistencies and plot holes, and uninspiring dialogue. It was thrown together quickly and was constantly being rewritten hurriedly while they were filming. Not to mention the entire plot of the movie depends on whenever Stephanie realizes Michael is the guy behind the goggles aka The Cool Rider alter ego. It's a pretty silly movie.
I don't care what any one sais grease 2 a classic it gave us so many iconic lines😂not to mention the choreo, drama and relationships were just as if not more complex than the first
Cheesy but I loved it plus Danny's gang didn't pass PE lol so they didn't graduate and Frenchie didn't do anything for this storyline. I think Stephanie's family should have been housing Micheal but whatev
this was my most favourite movie growing up!! my dad recorded it on vhs for me and i probably watched it thousands of times by now 😂 i wanted to be stephanie so bad.
I remember me and my sister watching this on HBO. We were always waiting for it 2 come back on. I had the biggest crush on Maxwell Caulfield aka "The Cool Rider"!
F'n love hearing Levi Stubbs singing this! He's got one of the most kick-ass voices I've ever heard, he puts heart and soul in it. And he still credits it to the other members of the Four Tops! Love it. Oh yeah, Michelle Pfeiffer be sexy!
My favorite grease movie and I also play this every year for my son to get up to on the first day of school. Today he's getting this blasted through the house! :)
Omg I do this to my son he’s 8 and hates it he doesn’t appreciate the 80s movies 😢 I’ve tried but he says they aren’t good these were my childhood and still make me happy watching them
I love this one so much more than the first. It is just too perfectly put together, have no idea if it was a huge hit or not but I never miss a chance to see and sing with it. Definitely one of my favorite movies if all time! Thanks for the memories!!!!
Grease 2 Trivia : Michael Carrington played by Maxwell Caulfield was Sandy's "cousin'. Matt Lattanzi who was once married to Olivia Newton John (they met while making Xanadu) was one of the Lettermen , Lorna Luft who played Paulette is the daughter of Judy Garland and the sister of Liza Minnelli.....
Beeeeeeeeecause it was a stage play first, then adapted to the screen. Doing the reverse is not as simple. Been done....yes, but not to standards that make anything great. In fact has ANYONE heard of a hit stage show that started as a film? (One that started on film before stage, but was a book first doesn't count...) Edit: just replied to a 6 yr old comment...let's see if there are any replies to mine........
I never could understand, why Didi Conn returned-but, then again, neither could she. She does the Great Disappearing Act midway through the movie, because the producers could no longer use her character; wich infuriated Conn even more. empathetically, I can't blame her.
@@lukerose384 yes mate! Like I commented before if grease 1&2 was both to be released today! Grease 2 story & songs would be liked most it aged better than 1st has.. Iconic nostalgia is what has kept 1st alive and 2 underrated
@@shelbehave2780 Hi, no , the blonde dancer I was thinking, is not Lorna, but a lesser known dancer/ actress, I found her name after a lot of searching, now I forgot. As nice as she is, you would think I would remember! LOL
Happy September 1st to everybody! Loved the music and energy in the dance numbers, the comedy, and the classic stars from the days of black and white TV.
You can't say Grease 2 didn't start off on a high note. You get a great Four Top's song and Eugene Felnic ( who only shows up one more time in the whole film).
EXCEPT in GREASE 1~ the whole Race @ Thunder Road was over ownership of "pinks"~ not pink car titles, but ownership of PINK LADIES....!!!! it's more grittier than 1, but it's in there.
I love both movies! Both movies fucking delivered outstanding performances. People should really stop comparing the two movies because they weren't meant to be the same. Two totally and completely different movies. Two amazing pieces of work. 💯
Such a great movie, just as good as the first one. They are not meant to remake it but think they did an awesome job with a different plot and having some of the cast from the original. Well-done.
