Strongly disagree. Jerry's original Sun recordings are way better in my opinion. His energy and youthfulness is the main reason, but also Roland Janes' guitar tone on many of them is very unique. Also, on the re-recordings, they did not quite get the tape echo timing right sometimes, and the drums sound a little bit too 80s for my taste. All in all, they still did an amazing job, but nothing touches the Sun recordings.
It’s just couse it sound more modern. We like what we re used to listen. We appreciate what we know. As child I liked more movie version. As I keep listen rock and roll, original sun record songs I started to prefere more the original version ( wich I would say are objective better... but “objective“ is a world that it doesn’t exist in art)

I heard Dennis Quaid was 35 playing a 22 year old Jerry? Winona was 16 which is only 2 years older than the actual Myra was. So that seems odd. Makes the age difference look a lot bigger with 20 years instead of 8.
Difference is JLL was 21 in that clip while Dennis Quaid was 35, lol! Also none of the Elvis scenes happened, they just put it in there to juice things up!

It would had better if you compared I'm on Fire from the movie with the 1964 live performance (very energetic) than compares Wild One from the movie with the 1988 show (where he was tired).
j'ai toujours pensé que Dennis Quaid en faisait de trop , en plus malgré la supervision de Jerry lee, il y a de nombreux anachronismes dans le film , les tenues de scène ne sont pas respectées etc etc, on voit un Chuc Berry petit alors que Chuck était grand! jusque meme la chanson finale qui date de 1963, alors que le film est censé se terminer en 1959!!!! bizarre!
Por momentos Dennis Quaid exagera y sobreactua la personalidad de Jerry jajaja sobre todo la escena final donde canta Wild One, Jerry no se sacude tanto y no se para Arriba del piano con Dennis, está mucho más tranquilo Jerry.
no, it is Dennis Quaid and I think he did great as Jerry Lee although he overdid it in some scenes, especially with the acting but hey it's a movie and you have to do that to make the audience feel anything because it isn't the real - life event happening.
