Other names: German Mastiff German Boarhound Deutsche Dogge Grand Danois French naturalist Georges -Louis Leclerc, Comte de Buffon, first cited the giant breed while traveling in Denmark and called it a “Grand Danois,” or Big Danish, but the breed originated in Germany. In Germany, it remains known as "Deutsche Dogge." In the Scandinavian languages, the French name and pronunciation are used.

Had a discussion with some people here in Denmark that believes this dog is bred by the Danish people throughout history. Thank you for posting this video, it settled it pretty quickly.

Interesting video. I have had many K9's over my life but the Great Danes I have/had are by far the most special to me.
