I have MS and with that comes a severe heat intolerance. I tried this. Honestly I was delicious and did the trick to help cool my core temperature. We all miss you Clara. Rip

Whoever had her as a grandma had a blessing just like my grandma was a blessing to me and I miss her so much. You never know how powerful a Grandmas love and prayers are until they are gone.

One thing I feel goes unappreciated is just how sharp Clara was for her age, very present, very aware, it takes effort to preserve yourself so well for so long!

For people that are that that she’s gone, just remember that there are probably some people who are trying out her recipes today. In that sense, is she really gone?

The way she told her story about "the whip" and how she just talks in general makes me tear up, she sounds so similar to my great aunt Mary who I lost in 2016 at 90. Similar mannerisms, loved to cook, tell stories, gossip, and give advice. My goodness I miss hearing her voice. This video really helped. Not the same of course, but its really close. What a sweet woman.

I love when senior citizens tell stories and it's amazing how they can still remember their childhood!

When I get lonely, sometimes I just put on a video of Clara and I feel like I have had a visit with a special friend.

Mom: Why are you putting water in the freezer? Me: It's not water, it's sugar water, I'm making Italian ice! Mom: Now why on Earth would you do that? Me: Cause Clara said so!

We were poor, but we were happy!! I love my elders so much. My Grandmother had to quit school in 8th grade and take care of her 9 siblings and then had 6 children and took care of my sister n I all week bc our parents and step parents passed away but had all 12 Grandchildren every weekend. Made everything from scratch and never swore,never wore pants,never drove,never smoked or dr as no. She was an Angel and lived to 100yrs old. I miss her so much. I have been preparing for what's to come..... ty for this channel!! Love this kind great woman!! She has same bday as my father, wow!! God bless you all

This is one of my "go to everytime" recipes. I found it the day I discovered Clara like ten years ago. I've loved her ever since. I still go see what Clara was up to In the summer ..savor her stories. She's sure greatly missed but I cherish these videos. I'm so grateful they're still here to enjoy.

My dad passed away when he was 96 yrs old. That was in 2019. He would have been 100 in Aug this year (2022). I LOVE the elderly, hearing their stories, things they did, how they lived and worked. As long as there's a story, I have time to hear it.

I am so glad that her family recorded the wisdom of Mrs. Clara. I miss my own grandmother who lived through the great depression also. She use to sit, talk to me about growing up and the things they did for fun. Mrs. Clara makes me feel like I am sitting with my Grandma again. ❤❤❤.

My mom and dad were born during the Great depression they would tell me all kinds of stories I miss them now.

My grandma lived during the depression as well, I loved the meals she made from that time in her life. I think the world would be a better place if grandparents never died.

She is so cute! She spent the last years of her life doing her cooking show on RU-vid, and she was probably having such a good time, and it warms my heart

Back in 2007/2008 I was a freshman in college, a broke college freshman. RU-vid was new and somehow i came across Clara’s videos then. I learned how to cook good, filling meals from her. Meals i still cook now every now and again. Thank you Clara! Thank you for teaching me ❣️💐 Today i came across this video again and i will be making this for my 9 month old son.

Both of my grandmothers grew up during the Great Depression, and both were very much like Clara. They passed on their "recipes" to their grandchildren, but I was the only one who ever paid attention. Now I'm the "Keeper" of the family's recipes, but sadly, no one else is interested in them. Glad to see Clara's legacy will continue!

I enjoy Miss Clara's stories. She reminds me of my mother and my Tia's growing up Portuguese.

Made her fig filling cookies years ago for my Mom & Dad. The story of her carrying her big tray of cookies down the steps and tripping on way down where upon her church lady friends were upset the cookies were a loss. Miracle of joy, Clara and the cookies both survived. Her telling of it cracked me up still makes me laugh years later.

When you cook a person's recipe that has passed away....they are somehow present in the kitchen while you cook and when you eat that special meal at the table.

My grandmother was born in 1908. She died in 1988 at the age of 80 when I was 21 years old. Now I'm 55, but throughout all of my life I've always found myself imagining all of the things she had seen and experienced throughout hers. When she was a girl, rocket ships were a thing of pure fantasy, existing only in science fiction novels, and if I'm not mistaken, I do believe the moon was still made of cheese. She would have been 21 years old when the great depression began, so she lived as a young adult through the worst of times. She didn't have her first child until she was well into her 30's, so she had plenty of years to experience life as a young adult woman. Now that I'm older and much more mature and far less self centered, I only wish she were still around so I could pick her brain for much of what she's experienced. I find it nearly impossible to pass on videos like this without stopping for a look.

I sure miss Clara. So glad she left these videos for us to enjoy. 🌷
