FINALY ... someone who uses a knife to do something more than cut paper and boxes ! he doesn't waste his money just collecting and cutting tape and opening mail in the office . a real man's practicality for using a knife ! I'm so tired of seeing knife reviews that cater to paper and box cutting , .... get a damn box cutter at home depot for 20.00 . for those who have common sence , ... we salute you ! Here in Michigan, we are blessed with three fine knife making companies: White River, Bark River and Rapid River knives. I carry a Bark River Bravo and White River Caper for hiking, camping and hunting. In Winter i switch out my Bravo for my Buck 124 Frontiersman. For an EDC folder i have a Buck 501 Squire pocket knife. Both Buck knives i've had since the late 70's and they have impressively held up, maintain sharp edges and served me well. My Bark River and White River knives are ruggedly dependable, razor sharp and beautifully artistic. Some of my friends carry Rapid River knives which possess these qualities also. I find the Becker 1095 CroVan steel to hold an edge a bit better than the Izula plain vanilla 1095 steel. The Becker heat treat is VERY well done and let’s face it, there is no “magic” in the Esee-Rowan heat treat (So tired of that internet regurgitation!)….Good old 1095 and their close cousins simply aren’t that difficult to heat treat well. That has been my experience with several Esee and Becker knives. Of course your milage may vary but I know what I know. Take care.
Sounds like you have a good one. We have a few Becker bks and they are great but can not hold an edge Like and of our esees. But the Becker are great knives.

I carry my esee izula horizontally daily primarily for self defense and I love it I never even notice it o bend over to pick up boxes I lay down with it I run stairs and never even notice it it’s awesome

The Becker is actually 1095CV, small amount of chromium and vanadium added, should hold an edge longer than the Esee. I have both and need to do a test to see if I get the same results as you. Good video!
The beckers are fantastic knives. But I bet your experiment will yield the same results I find. The esee heat treat is spot on and holds an edge better than any 1095 knife I have. But the beckers are still amazing knives and I love them!
this model from Becker had a problem with the sheath.. I think there is too much glass in the plastic and it blunted the blade of the knife. This has been corrected on new models
You are correct. In my experience the Becker 1095 CV holds an edge a little better than the Esee plain Jane 1095. Yes Esee does have a good heat treat, don’t get me wrong, but there is no “magic“ in their heat treat. The Internet regurgitation about the “superior Esee heat treat” gets tiresome to hear over, and over, and over….just repeated like mindless goats. 1095 is simply not that difficult to do well and it raises question of these people’s actual experience who spout such nonsense. The Becker steel composition is better than Esee in edge holding and wear resistance. On the other hand Esee needs not take a back seat to anyone in their performance. Take care.
All great looking knives but not a fan of skeleton style (need para cord) or hanging from the neck. That’s just me… I love the Bradford Guardian knives, got the 3.5. Excellent video on explaining all these different styles. 👍🏻
@@SamkoTradBow just for you to know mister Sam , last week 2 days in the rain , 1st day i used the simple sling pack from 5.11 everhthing dry inside! 2nd day i was with a kuiu pack , at the end of the day i had EVERYTHING wet inside the pack , not saying its bad , but its important!! big hug thanks

@@SamkoTradBow You may have the impression that your knife blunts faster because of this problem. It would be interesting to do a test, because 1090cv should keep the sharpness longer than 1090
