Thank you Emmanuel for your covers. They have been very helpful; especially this cover. I came across your channel last year. Thanks for helping out. May God bless you richly.
Emmanuel_S Music wow! This is one of the best news I have heard all week long. I'll tuned. If you could add tutorials on your licks, it will be worth a kings ransom to me (and I believe lots of folks too). God bless.
The only thing I ever practice is running chromatics up and down the fingerboard. I always listen to music....even when I am in the bus or walking. When you have a song to learn, just listen to it until its stuck in your head. While listening, pay attention to the bass lines until you can play them in your head. Finally, don't play under pressure. Just have fun and be relaxed. God bless you for watching.
hey thanks man for this video, because it's my first time playing the bass and our church youth band are doing the same song and i learn a lot.thanks man
Thanks again I'm gonna be doing chromatics everyday. I feel like my practicing is scattered so I'm incorporating that because that's a good warm up exercise. How are you with scales ? I wish I had them more down pat so I could play more effectively with more texture! I've been watching this since I found it lol I have to play it like this when we minister this song !
This is not the version I have to play (we're doing the boring version), but you've given me some great fill ideas that will still work...thanks! Is this a 1:1 cover or your own version?
Thanks for watching. The cover is neither here nor there. I have added a lot of my own notes. However, I follow the general progression and make sure I land on the most critical root notes in the original song.
I will recommend Norm Stocktons grooving for heaven video lessons. I just bought them myself, and I am hoping to start learning from that in the new year. Rich Brown's youtube channel also has great lessons. If you can afford it, get a local teacher. A strong foundation sets you up for success. I am self-taught, so from my perspective, listening to music all the time helps and paying attention to the bass line even if you are not playing along. I usually listen for two things: (1) groove- the way the bass dances in sync with the drums and the notes (the sound of the notes the bass player is playing). Hope this helps.
Hi Samuel, the videos I post is the most help I can offer at the moment. If you have specific questions, you can email me. However, I am not in a position to teach due to my family, work, music studio and church commitments. GOD richly bless you
my brother have you ever played guitar also I play bass but I want to play guitar as a secondary my hands are big like yours I think I better stay with the bass
Unfortunately not. All my bass covers are played without notes. Occasionally, I write a few numbers if there are challenging sections. But generally I don't play bass with written notes. Thank you for watching, and GOD bless you
