Ju-on is a pretty good intro into J-Horror. It traumatized me as a kid but having watched it again as an adult, the makeup effects made me realize that it was a lot less scarier than I had made it out to be. But still very eerie though.

I've never seen the US version of Ju-On and when I watched the original when I was younger I had no idea what I was expecting. I'm not really a fan of the horror genre as a whole but I can say for a fact that my experience of Ju-On in my formative years contributed greatly to my overall taste in media as an adult. People who overhype movies are kinda dumb but I honestly think there are some films that every person needs to watch in their life, and this was one of them. Regardless of what you get out of it, it's certainly a masterpiece of cinema.

Hideo Nakada is the director of RING, which introduced the trend of J-Horror. He's a cinephile. the TV video scene was inspired by Cure, and the rendition of the haunting scene was taken from "Videodrome" and Andrei Tarkovsky "Mirror." This Sence In fact, it is a scene that does not exist in the original novel. You can see how cinephile he is.

Noroi The Curse is good, despite some flaws. The way it was arranged movie wise, we too act as a detective along with Kobayashi and his cameraman. Because we follow and see everything just like we are a part of the paranormal team with Kobayashi as the leader, we feel the unsettling atmosphere that he and the cameraman feel. The audience engagement was what made this movie stayed in my mind.
