Have you checked out Super Robot Wars yet like what these people are saying? You can get some of the games in STEAM or in Switch. You want multiple gundam characters from different parts of the UC series and maybe other timelines to interact? Done here it is. You want them to interact with many other different real robot or super robot series? Done. Story usually involves major plot developments for some of the series and somehow manage to make all these characters and lore in these series integrate well with one another. Like how they looked for something similar from Getter Robo, Cross Ange, and Gundam 00 and somehow manage to combine them to make sense. It's not also only mecha but they also have for Uchuu Senkan Yamato (Great battleship Yamato) and also Captain Harlock.
As far as i know, the tech used for the Mazinger is far ahead of it's time, i mean, this looks like it was made in the late 90s and the Great Mazinger already has motion tracking tech
Wait a minutes here, tell me I did not just see a kid wearing a harness remote control device and he was making the robot move and fight in real time, WOW !
Well Gundam is piloted by a geneticly modified super (faster reactions mostly) human that can connect mentally to its robot. Armed with guns, beam sabers, and shields and sometimes with Gundanium armor. Also can fly. Great Mazinger is a guy in a plane sitting inside the robot's head. No special capabilites of the pilot. The Great Mazinger seems to have no special armor since it usually gets ripped apart in large battles. It is armed with swords. It has wings to fly (more relaistic) but if the wings are broken then it can't. It can also throw lightning. Overall Gundam moves faster and could probably keep attacking a gundam if it were piloted by a Newtype. But the great amzinger still has a fighting chance by throwing it's V which could work well
I think the best games that emulates japanese mechs, and I insist on the word emulate here, because it's what theorically can happen. Are the Super robot taisen Franchise. Super robot is the robot who contains most of the abilities, these robots are often be very resistent, slow with powerful attacks and they also combine. The real robot genre emphasis more on machines that are more grounded, realistic, plausible than the super ones. Their armor even when supposedly strong is weak, they move fast, use realistic weapons such as rifles, have roles just like any military machine and relies a lot towards pilot skill. In super robot you mostly only have robot upgrades, rarely a much better pilot skill. you also have sometimes a new attack. In real robot the pilot is kind of key and they sometimes see a lot of training to master a machine that requires a lot of pilot skill and physical training to use the machine at its maximum potential.
I'm not sure about piloted mechs outside of the Kuratas or T-52 Enryu in Japan, but the 1:1 scale Gundam is being renovated and redesigned to have functional legs.
