I never pulled the trigger on the Shapeways pocket clip for the Skeletool before they went out. 🙄 A better pocket clip is a must and I feel would be the best mod for the Skeletool.
I did this to my OG Wave and Surge with tiny magnets using tools from a $3 Ali Express Swiss Card clone. It's SO handy having a pen and tweezers on a Leatherman 👍
I'm thinking of buying two son-in-laws a Letherman for Christmas. Is there a preference you would have? I think one would mostly use his for cutting, boxes, letter's, paper, etc. and the other maybe a multi tool would be better. To use the knife, and basic other tools ? Thank you, John.
That's an interesting question. As far as the multi tool goes for the second one, I would buy a Leatherman Bond for relatively cheap Leatherman- Leatherman Wave for intermediate gift. And the Charge or Arc for a very expensive gift! For the first one The Leatherman T2 or T4 are more budget priced knife based multi tools and the K2 and K4 look a lot nicer but are much more expensive. All these listed are good tools. For cutting boxes as cheap as it may sound it is really hard to go wrong with the Milwaukee 6 in 1 fastback utility knife multi tool. I know it's not a Leatherman but the utility knife is great and you could buy laser etched utility blades off of etsy to make it feel more premium. Honestly, the fastback is probably better suited for continual box cutting than any Leatherman.
I mean, it's nice if you want them (thumb studs, no thanks) but the only truly useful thing was the hammer (mallet would be more accurate). I honestly don't think the other commenter knows what "innovation" means.
