and thanks for your help here. I stayed in a Renaissance over 15 yrs. ago at the airport and had trouble because the planes weren't very close to me watching from the balcony. Is this another Renaissance Hotel in the area you are talking about? I don't see any other R Hotel's with balconies at any other hotel. I love watching the planes. Please would you lmk where is this hotel and are the runways different now? thanks so much!
I live southwest of Atlanta and I stand on my balcony and watch planes land all day with a drink in my hand. They fly right over my apartments probably within 500 feet above, sometimes lower depending on weather. Its always 2 at a time parallel landing.
Hi! Tks for the tip. I want to come to Atlanta just to watch planes. I enjoy the taking off mostly! Could you please tell me where I could sit and watch in my car or hotel close by and watch them and get the best view? I would greatly appreciate the help. Tks so much!
10:57. Who would have thought in 1997 when Boeing took over McDonnell Douglas that nearly 25 years later MD-11Fs and MD-95s would still be widely used by flagship carriers in the first world. ❤️ 👍🏼
Yes, it's a miracle that they were in service for as long as they were. They would've been with us for even longer if the pandemic didn't force them to retire their MD-80s and MD-90s prematurely!
Thank you for adding this video! Did we all know what was gonna happen a month later? I didn't. I fell in love with this Airport a year ago when i first visited it in April 2019, i stayed at the Renaissance with a runway view. Oh my god that place was busy, i saw a total of 31 planes lined up for takeoff. After April 2019 i visited it 2 more times. Loved the city of Atlanta also. Really hope things get back to normal because i miss it dearly. Thanks again.
HI there. Did you see planes right on the runway closet to the hotel? I think it may be hard to see them close if they are on the opposite side of the airport, at least many, many years ago it seemed so far away that I was able to see the planes. I love watching them take off, and get as close as I can get. Were you close? thanks so much.
Right from the start I fell in love with Atlas Air, what a beautiful aircraft !! It was a wonderful takeoff, so perfect !! Delta taking off ... wonderful to give goosebumps! A-380 one of my passions !
It's amazing how the A380 dwarfs every other plane there, even planes like the 777 which still makes midsized jets like the MD-80 look puny such as at 18:18.
It could speak to the type of immigrant population they have, where businesses may come from, which connecting routes are more convenient. My guess is it is harder to gain solid ground at ATL if you are not a sky team member partnered with Delta, who pretty much run the show at ATL.
Because Delta has control over much of airport operations including boarding gate access. Southwest had to merge with AirTran in order have any access to the airport. But with the opening of the new international terminal in 2012, that allowed foreign carriers such as Turkish and Qatar to start service.
T Johnson Yes. Given Atlanta’s location and layout of the airport, it is an airline’s dream to have Atlanta as a hub airport. Delta is making sure that they don’t loose their status.
