watching Kamnik-Leko "live" on the internet back then reignited my interest in chess. I started studying and playing much more online. If someone asks me to name a player, I would always think of Leko first, but out loud I'd name some world champion or whatnot.

Love that second game. Great explanation, and incredibly impressive for Leko to find the knight tactic to defeat Kramnik’s preparation.

Leko is almost as much of a positional genius as Karpov. Of course, Karpov in his prime wouldn't let you breathe . While Leko would "cemento" his position and stop all counterplay.

That 2nd game is just incredible. Imagine calculating a mating sequence involving sacking both your bishop and your knight that looks like it ends in your opponent having to give up too much material to stop mate, BUT... it's against the best player in the world who just surprised you with a super duper well prepared line in the world championship match. That takes an incredible amount of confidence in yourself to go into. I would have never seen that escape, but even if I did, I still would have just taken that a-pawn right away cuz I would have assumed I'm missing something and I'm gonna get punished for my ambitious mating attack.

I still can't understand how tiny Ulf Andersson's Wikipedia is compared to others. Of course he wasn't almost world champion like Leko, but he was an elite player in the 70s, 80s and 90s and his article is like a quarter of Leko's.

peter is my second favourite chess game commentator, only second to another peter ( svidler xD). he always seems above and beyond the commentators that he is commentating with. anybody with a little bit of chess knowledge appreciates his commentary i think.

The story about Leko's win in the Marshall against Kramnik is that Svidler came up with the idea of sacking the queen and promoting the pawn, but that he didn't really analyse the prep deeply, because there was a big cricket match going on. Svidler just didn't do the work. Talk about priorities.

fxg3 threatening mate hxg3 avoiding mate Bxc5 unleashing black's dark bishop on a very nice diagonal to white king, from which the king cannot escape Engine gives 2.8 to black at depth 20 with the best continuation similar to the game - Re4 Bxf2 ; Qxf2 Rxf2; Kxf2 Qh2+

I've seen and commented on this before. Ben looks to me to be on some stimulant, maybe for weight loss and maybe recreationally, but he doesn't hide it well. Shaky voice, lip smacking, licking, overactive tongue, and an obvious absence of his relaxed humorous style. It's a bummer because it affects the quality of the video
