Nations can't continue to spend more than they take in without adverse consequences. Bitcoin seems to be a hopeful development that takes away discretionary control from any nation-state by introducing algorithmic discipline upon governments. I'm more hopeful about the future because of Bitcoin. We need new leaders that embrace the idea if fiscal discipline. If people actually had to pay for continuous war, they would elect NOT to have war. If governments were forced to live within rational fiscal constraints we would all be better off in the mid-long term.
