I have to overall give the nod to what I currently own and use and that is my Klipsch r620f towers. They are very similar to these except the tweeter is vastly different but at 600 a pair they give a lot of value for the money.

1,000% recommend. had a set of the early model towers for about 10 years now and i've only had a minor issue pop up the once, i cannot stress how taken aback i was at how easy it was to get the speaker fixed and it didn't cost me a dime! the team was great, Lifetime warranty. I love blowing friends minds when i sit them down in front of real speakers and they get lost for a couple hrs. so cool

I'm constantly amazed by the quality of sound now available to those just getting into audio. I purchased my first speakers (Technics SB-L300) back in 1980 for $500.00, and they had nowhere near the technology or build quality of what's available now at (or around) that price point. Wow!

My father has the most craziest home system I've ever seen or heard but it's definitely not a budget system and it's old school, yamaha cr20/20 receiver Nakamichi 680zx cassette player, Carver m1.5 amplifier, dual turntable with a Shure cartridge, Infinity reference standard speakers for the front and infinity qutumne3"s for the rear, plus some kind of kenwood pre-amplifer.the music out of this system feels like it starts in your feet and go's through your body then out your ears.to this day I've never heard anything like it.by the way my father is a retired elec. engineer and active Ham radio operator,his choice of music is not mine but I have a lot of respect for him and his choice of equipment because I've never seen or heard anything that comes close.thanks for your channel and keep up the great work thanks.🤗

Speakers do look amazing... I've been running the XL7F's along with a XL7C since 2013. The upgraded look is nice especially now that the grill is magnetic. I managed to get the 7F's on sale for $399 Canadian back then and they still shake the house.

The thing that sets these towers apart from others for me is the integrated down firing subwoofer. Any other lower/mid priced tower that you or another person seem to review ultimately gets to the part where you (or they) say something like "if you want to reproduce the lower end, you are going to want to pair these with a subwoofer" - the Jamo S809 is a perfect example. I hope to get a pair of these XL8F speakers for listening to my rock music collection because the Klipsch Heresy II speakers I've had since 1985 just don't do that music justice... without a subwoofer. Gotta say too - the Fluance 30 day risk free in home trial is a HUGE bonus to me. I like that I will be able to try them out in MY listening space with MY audio components and MY music for an extended period time and return them postage paid if they don't work for me. That is awesome.

I picked up a pair of the XL7s used for just over $200. I have owned MB Quartz, Martin Logan Stats, and even so old school HPM-100s. .....and these XLs have certainly held their own in comparison. Now i don't run my for movies. Only a basic two channel listening system in a room. I did add a sub to the system. NOT because the XLs were lacking, but rather because I like a heavier low end at lower to medium volumes so the sub allowed me to really focus the mid range on the XLs rather than pushing more that that low end I want at lower volumes. A fantastic speaker for us "non audiophile pocketbook" folks.

My journey with fluance is very unique. Was taking the trash out in my apartment and there were two 4.5 in bookshelf speakers with a 15 in sub just sitting in the trash room. Sub didn’t work and I’m guessing the guy powered the speakers through the sub so he thought they were all broken. I replaced the blown fuse on the sub, still didn’t work. But the bookshelf speakers I was so impressed with I almost only look for fluance speakers now as they are the best bang for buck imo

@AndrewRobinson I look forward to it. BTW, I had Fluance i60 for close to a year now. I LOVE the sound when the settings are right, but there could be mayor “sound variances” IF the source volume is set over 75% (android,iPhone, TV using Bluetooth or Optical). I was about to return the units until I figured out that keeping source volume up to around 75% but increasing the volume of the Fluance i60 speaker made a significant difference in overall sound quality, with incredible low frequencies for the money.

Well on your recommendation/commercial I bought a pair of these. My first problem was fit and finish. The front panel of both speakers did not sit flush and there were noticeable gaps between the speaker face and the speaker box. Then there was the loose port tubes in one that fell out while I was unpacking it. Looked like they were never glued in. I also didn't care for the sound. I felt the highs were just not there and the midrange lacked detail. The plus side was they had good bass extension. I gave them a chance. Every morning when I went to work I ran them with Christmas music from a local radio station so the wife and daughter working from home. Unfortunately they just never opened up. Anyway I was hoping to replace my Monitor BX6's. What these did do is make me appreciate the BX6's.

I’ve been a polk fan / owner for a long time but always interested in what’s out there etc. Even with your up front disclaimer that the video was sponsored some people still get fired up over credibility of comments etc. In my humble opinion I didn’t hear anything that would question the integrity of this feedback and appreciated the video for what it was. Skeptics can usually go hear a pair somewhere before buying anyway if they are that concerned. I hope to hear some of these in person sometime as your feedback, especially about the performance of the downfiring woofer, has spiked my interest.

Whats up Andrew! I am a college student and live in a house with a few friends and Covid has us spending our weekend nights streaming DJ sets and audiotree sessions in our living room from my macbook pro jack to my audio setup which is a Denon-PMA600NE and Klipsch RP-600Ms on stands. When we turn it up to our desired volume, the bass gets flubby and clarity is noticeably lost. What do you recommend I do to fix this issue? Sell the speakers and get some $500-$800 tower speakers? Keep the speakers and get a new receiver? I am not an audiophile but I do enjoy live feeling sound and spend a lot of time sitting, standing, and dancing to music around the house. I am a bit more interested in being told what to get by someone who really knows (you) than trying to make my own decisions about what I think will sound good based on specs on the crutchfield. I hope you can help! thank you!!

I'm a fan of their turntable so I'm glad to see a review of the Fluance XL8 series (not too many reviews out there yet). Given the price difference isn't too significantly higher between their XL8 and Signature series, I'd usually lean toward the higher priced Signature...but I think the look of the XL8F is much better. The Signature series looks way too overbearing and I know my wife enough to know that on looks alone she would prefer the look of the XL8 over the Signature. I realize this was a sponsored video, but what didn't you like about the XL8F? I don't know if they're "reference" but my favorite and still in use floor speakers are my Athena Technologies AS-F1. I bought them 15+ years ago at Best Buy on a budget and have yet to feel a need to replace them for my family room home theatre. Took me a few years to acknowledge they sounded better in my system without a subwoofer.
@andrewrobinsonreviews
@andrewrobinsonreviews 4 года назад
I think the Signature line is likely due for a refresh just going off of the carry over tech from the Signature line now found on the Reference. As for what I didn't like, honestly, not much. The bass can get overbearing at times so you need to adhere to careful placement, and or experiment with plugging the ports, which tightens things up a fair bit. If you place these too close to a wall and don't address the bass then vocals can get a little chesty and bass can definitely boom, but this isn't unique to the Fluance. I don't like the grilles, and I'm not the biggest fan of the super high-gloss front baffle - I would've preferred matte black or even a semi-gloss. But for $599/pair, these are nit-picky issues for on a whole, they're just fun and easy to live with tower speakers!

Had a pair of Snell bookshelf speakers for 30 yrs. Last week I bi-wired them with Canare 4S11 cables. Why didn't I try that, before? The Fluance are 3 way, and probably have great cross overs, but try bi-wire, if you get these. It may really open up the sound stage.

Have you ever heard them?I just bought the Fluance Signature book shelf speakers as I wanted to hear something different. I watched you review of those too and you convinced me to buy them..thank you for your informative reviews.

Any chance you could get them to send you their newer Signature 3-way floorstanding speakers to review? I'm REALLY curious how they stack up against some of the same types of speakers in that size range. They LOOK nice, but do they sound as nice as some of your others that you've reviewed like the Heco Aurora or Klipsch RP 8000F? I'm looking to get some new speakers and these caught my attention (for their pricing and looks) but I don't have anywhere to listen to a pair of them. LOVE all your reviews! Keep up the great work!

Currently using AJ Pioneer FS-52 I picked up for $198/pair. Cannot complain for that price and was an upgrade for me. I’d be very interested in auditioning these Fluance towers. The taller and heavier cabinet would be a welcomed upgrade, and the walnut finish makes them look more premium. I prefer this aesthetic to the Signature line.

I would've preferred a matte finish myself. Better still, if the walnut wood veneer carried over to the front, but on a whole, at this price, it's still a stylish addition and a nice looking speaker.

question - the black ash variation of these speaker looks like it has a matte front-facing panel. at least in all their photos on amazon or their website. Is that the case? Or both variations have this glossy black finish at the front? I personally would prefer matte finish for my house I think. Thanks! PS: Also, if you had to choose between these, or the Jamo S809, what would you pick? :)

With those huge dual rear ports, how did you manage to place those towers so close to the rear wall ? I've listened so much rear ported designs and most of them were sounding boxy, boomy & fully bloated in bass... - Yeah, I'm a fan fan of front ported or no port (sealed/acoustic suspension) designs. Sorry. PS: Excellent videography & review as always.
@andrewrobinsonreviews
@andrewrobinsonreviews 4 года назад
I did pull them out more when listening in order to experiment with "tuning" the bass a bit. I also closed the ports with rags for a test or two to see what that did. Depending on your room you may need to pull these bad boys out from the wall 16 or more inches or plug one or both of the ports if things get overwhelming bass-wise. But if you don't have space or the budget for a subwoofer, these towers will fill that void easily!

Hello Andrew. It was wonderful to find you on RU-vid and I'm now a subscriber; more or less obsessed with your reviews. I've been out of the AV game for about 15 years now and have just bought a new home which I want to build a system in. My last system was a pair of Polk rti A9's and matching center with B&W in-ceiling rears powered by a top of the line pioneer elite receiver bi-amping the towers with an audio quest amp for the lows along with a JBL sealed 12 pushed by 600w rms. (My ex-wife still has all that and my kids tell me it's still amazing) It was stupid good sounding and, along with the ps3 and panomax and TV, cost over 10k. I now just want great sound and support for the latest formats but I'm not the audiophile I used to be but just want to put something together to enjoy mostly streamed movies and music off a Chromecast with google TV pretty much exclusively. I'm considering the Fluance towers and matching center with in ceiling rears and heights for a 5.0.2 or 5.1.2 system running off maybe the marantz 1711 or maybe an onkyo receiver (it blew my mind to find that pioneer and onkyo are the same company now). I worked professionally installing car audio systems for six years in my late teens and early 20s and then for another six years doing television repair during the major transitions from tube to DLP to plasma to LCD to LED and then a brief stent doing home theater install for a year before changing careers entirely and falling falling away from the AV scene as both hobby and career. I'm rambling... but it reminds me of a time before RU-vid when we all gathered on AV forums and talked endlessly about everything. Basically I want to get into a system that will be easy to set up and sound amazing for my family living room without breaking the bank. We looked at the Samsung Q990B but I prefer a more integrated, sophisticated and upgradable system than an all-in-one-box sound bar with speakers that I need to run power to and have to worry about wireless cut out issues for. I am more than comfortable running wires all over my house but don't want to spend a fortune on equipment. The idea that I might get away without a sub is a definite plus but I do worry about the inability of being able to adjust the sub-bass separate from the mid bass and treble in a 5.0.2 system when my wife is asleep. Soooo.....

Thank you Andrew for the review on the Fluance . You were right on that this is a lot of speaker for the price. Based on your review I purchased a pair of XL8FW and very satisfied. I replaced my front klipsch RP600m and moved them to the surrounds. The Flurance now fills the open floor plan of my space very nice. This speaker is an upgrade of its predecessor the XL7 and I am sure as time goes by and the word spreads it will be a hit.

@AndrewRobinson BTW, I have been enjoying Fluance i60 for close to a year now. I LOVE the sound when the settings are right, but there could be mayor “sound variances” IF the source volume is set over 75% (android,iPhone, TV using Bluetooth or Optical output). Fortunately, I figured out that keeping source volume up to around 75% but increasing the volume of the Fluance i60 speaker with its remote control made a significant difference in overall sound quality, with incredible low frequencies for the money. Overall, extremely happy with i60
