The Great Stupa at Sanchi is one of the oldest stone structures in India and an important monument of Indian Architecture. It was originally commissioned by the emperor Ashoka the Great in the 3rd century BCE.

if you stick to the ancient sites and tourist spots or just a simple rural village in countryside, it would be a very pleaseant experience, but anything in the big cities is just not that good, scammers and busy and polluted streets with potholes etc etc. all the money alloted for wellfare and developement for the public was probably laundered by whatver local government resides there

Happy to know you are back in India and making videos. Please make videos on Hoysala Temples especially the temples in Belur, Halebid and Somnathpura. All three are in Karnataka and have amazing stone carvings. There are many more Hoysala Temples but these three are the most popular and biggest of all.

Hoysala temples of Belur, Halebid and Somnathpura have been officially declared as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO on 18th September 2023. Please make a video on these three temples. 1. Chennakeshava Temple, Belur, Hassan District 2. Hoysaleshwara Temple, Halebid, Hassan District 3. Chennakeshava Temple, Somnathpura, Mysore District Below are some other smaller and less famous but none the less equally beautiful Hoysala temples. one of those fancy gates at 0:29 actually just exists inside the calcutta muuseum lol i was stunned to see an entire stone gate that large inside, who know why the british felt the need to move it inside a museum, perhaps they were planning to take it to the museum but it was too big haha

It's amazing that Sanchi Stupa has survived. Nearby is the city of Vidisha, which was famed for its massive temple complexes, has barely anything left after being obliterated by invading Turkic armies. Perhaps, its because was protected by the hills.

This is the oldest surviving monument in India built sometime around 3rd century BCE. Anything older than that are the remains of the Indus Valley cities which was around 3000 BCE.

There are many places older, though not in good state of preservation. Ex vaishali, rajgir, kesariya, kushinagar, shravasti, sinauli etc.

@@sadenb The present sanchi stupa is also a later construction belonging to shunga period. Original stupa at kesariya was built when gautam buddha was probably still alive. There were many stupas built after buddha. Ex ramabhar stupa. Ashoka later started building stupas, pillars, caves, inscriptions, temples etc. Sanchi belongs to that time. You can say sanchi is oldest 'good looking' monument.
