Greater Manchester to re-regulate buses

On 25 March 2021, Greater Manchester made history, becoming the first UK city-region to re-regulate its buses since Thatcher de-regulated them in 1986. This is the only way to take back control of our public transport system from the private operators and ensure it is run in the public interest. We need Greater Glasgow to be next!

Well it can't get any worse bus companies in and around the greater Manchester area is shocking by privding poor customer care both drivers and call centre staff and don't mention lack of timetable that busses don't keep too. So basically I'll belive it when I see it because dimond bus company and greater Manchester bus company are descreful and shockingly poor service for years. Let's pray and be positive that this all new yellow bus service is going to be a bright and reliable bus company. I guess time will tell. We live in hope. Good Luck to the Yellow Bus Organisation and to all who are working within the company.

The public transport is good in Manchester but public transport in Glasgow is a disgrace SNP out now

You want to try the First bus, cough, services in the central belt, Shaun. Worst fleet anywhere... I’d love to see the services Glasgow gets, in the central belt especially in the Falkirk, Bo’ness and Cumbernauld area.

How the buses are run has nothing to do with the SNP mate, this is Thatcherist "privatise everything" legacy. Luckily, there's a possibility Glasgow Council might be one of the first to follow in Manchester's footsteps and bring the bus system back into public control, coordinated by SPT. It's outrageous that bus-timetables and tickets aren't properly and fully integrated with the subway and trains. Mind you, full Oyster-card style integration won't be achieved in Manchester either until the late 2020s, which is pretty disgraceful (though I still excuse Andy Burnham, he's been working very hard all things considered).

Public transport in Greater Manchester isn't good believe me. You've got companies such as diamond North West, Arriva and First Greater Manchester which all show up late and aren't good. On the other hand we do have go north west, transdev and stagecoach.

Does this mean that the route 11 (Altrincham - Stockport via Wythenshawe) Will finally run on-time?

What they don't want in Manchester is the buses in the same colour as the trams. It's a horrible yellow. They need to bring back the red colour of the 60's/70's.

@@Sophiebryson510 Alright then, tell me what’s so utterly awful about the colour yellow. I believe that the colour fits nicely with Manchester’s symbolism regarding the bee, and helps to make areas look brighter (something desperately needed in the dingier parts of the city.)
