The fact that Woj is being called 'the greatest basketball reporter ever' just goes to show how weak the field is --- Woj was FINE. He was good. But calling him the greatest just exposes how much the field is run by cliques / politics / nepotism / money . There's nothing very special about what he did, besides simply executing the very special job he was given.

So, did Tom Brady not retire from playing football because he went into broadcasting of football games? Retirement doesn't mean the end of all work. For some people that's what retirement means, but for others it means the end of working in a specific type of work or industry. He doesn't plan to be a reporter again, so it's fair to say he's retired from that profession even though he's still going to be attached to the game of basketball as a GM.

Why can't actually talented people who invested into the game, become writers?
