I love seeing Johns Layout again! I also model Union Pacific as well along with CNW and BNSF! I have motivation to create a layout similar to this when I get my own house! Thanks for sharing Lou!

What I don't like about some of these hobbyists out there is that they think they know how it HAS to be done, and anyone who doesn't follow their way is wrong. Model railroading is all about imagination, creativity, and fun. So it bugs me to hear John say that people have told him that things are not correct in his layout. Who are they to say what is right or wrong? So what if he has Hot Wheels or Matchbox cars. This is HIS design, and it's HIS vision. To me those are the types of people that RUIN this hobby. They take the fun out of it, and it becomes about their ego. John has 30 years experience, and loves what he is doing. As far as I am concerned that's all that matters. :-) John you do great work, and continue doing what you love in model railroading. :-)

John, this really needs to be moved into a museum before ya get too much older. In a museum you would have more room to set this up even better. Your passion is wonderful, and the work done is exemplary. It really needs to be preserved as it really is a piece of historical art. Hats off to you John, you're a terrific artist.

'I m 64 years old, retiring this week and going yo start my layout on Saturday and I won;t live for another 30 years, so wish me luck boys. This after 60 yeas of radio control. just beautiful and your video guy has done a good job also. i get the same comments about some of my RC aircraft not being to scale and i say so what. you show the pride in your stuff and passion as i do in my RC aircraft. again thank you for sharing! also i may have missed it but have you put a small camera in the front of your train. i have what the call a chewing gum camera that i have mounted in one of my gliders. if you look around with shipping you can get one for around $20

There is so much to see here! Attempting to show everything in a single video is simply attempting too much. The camera often does not have time to focus, or it jerks away so quickly, the eye of the viewer does not manage to focus. It would be great if such a layout were covered in several episodes. Especially since, four years later, the layout might have grown a bit more! Looking forward to such a series, hntrains

John what a great layout. Great detail. Lou FYI it would be much more interesting to hear from John about his layout instead of interrupting him every five minute. After all he did spend 30 years building it.

Very nice! and pretty consistent design- well-zoned. The layout is not a hodge-podge of just different buildings dropped onto the board. The shot at 15:30 was just gorgeous. I wonder how John keeps the dust from settling on everything? Unless he has a trick, it must be a tough job.

That's an awesome train, the Big Boy :) I'm in Europe, so I only use European trains here, but I can see on RU-vid that there are some REALLY nice American trains out there :) Maybe I should build a little America too some day :) And now I feel like I shouldn't have mentioned the Hot Wheels earlier with the first video, cause I understand now that many people have pointed that out already, it must get kinda boring to hear the same thing over and over. If John likes the Hot Wheels, than Hot Wheels are fine and when these slightly inflated cars aren't parked too close to anything in real 1/67 scale, it's really not much of a problem :) That canyon area at 24:11 is also very impressive, and ''John compared to the bridge'' at 25:00 is just ''wow'', he built that bridge himself, that's just amazing.

great great video and layout but it would be greatly appretiated if the camera man did speak over john. not to be rude or anything just wanted to point that out. other than that minor detail great video!

How many trains can you run at one time, John?

Did you have some kind of effect turned on in this video? I am seeing wobbling everywhere that I didn't notice in the first video. This is an awesome build and if I had the time and money and space I would do this myself and I'm only 21! I say that because I really don't know anybody else my age that is interested in this stuff like me.

Lou, I've loved train for 13 years, and this is (partially) my dream model railroad! I've always wanted a layout like this, but I don't have the space for one like that. There's one engine that's in good enough shape that I've had for 12 years, an HO model of the Southern Pacific Daylight 4449, it started my love for trains when I was 5! My little engine is still going strong. I like the mountain areas with the big wood bridge, those are my favorite parts. Is that railroad in HO scale? If it is, please reply and I love this video, your awesome and so is John, that railroad, and all your other videos!

Dose John ever switch out freight cars at the industries (i.e. John deer facility at 15:50)? Just some random question I had. Can you make another video of this layout in the future to update Johns progress and what he has added new to the layout. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.

Nice train layout, but I have a problem with anyone who proclaims "Greatest Ever!" So, therefore I have two comments. 1st, I don't think you've seen many private model railroads, 2nd, There is always something better!

Not true it's not one of the biggest steam engines it is the biggest

It is nice except for some of the vehicles not being to scale. A sports car is not as big as a bus.
