It really was. The wvu pitt game. I was in Austin texas. Coworker was like your team is going to the national championship (wvu). Told him.... It's a rivalry. Anything can happen. And it did.
Boise over oklahoma is def the biggest for me because it was on a big stahe some schools just dont get up for schoola on any sat but that was a huge bowl game and thats whybtonme it was a huge upset
It was an awesome game. The funny thing is that BSU was dominating OU in the first half and pushing them all over the field and then they got really conservative offensively in most of the 2nd half, letting OU back into the game, not to mention the pick 6 late in the 4th before they started pulling out all the trick plays
Cincy / Wisconsin 1999. Ron Dayne's only fumble while Wisconsin went to the Rose Bowl. I was a few feet away at Nippert in the southeast corner of the stadium, about to start my freshman year. Cincy finished 3-8, but that was one of the best memories I have of my college days.
And it set off an entire season of upsets. That game essentially said "hey! If an FCS can beat Michigan then what's keeping us from winning!? 53 Unranked upsets including 7 number 2's going down. USC and Oregon among those victims
only because is was michigan and how it ended....better FBS schools have lost to FAR worse teams than app state...but its "MICHIGAN!" so everyone knows about it....
@@buckfuttler2877 um and it was the first top 10 team to ever lose to a FCS team. I agree App St was a great team, but a top 10 program shouldn't have even struggled
@@geraldrea5917 an overrated "top ten" team that finished with i think 4 losses. So not really one of the ten best FBS schools. Not like they finished 12-1.
This is why I love college football. I'm a huge Alabama fan. Have been for 26 years. I don't like my team loosing but I really did enjoy this video. Even when my team gets beat. Keep putting out good videos like this. Again really enjoyed the video. Roll Tide Roll 🏈🏆🏈🏆
You forgot the time when South Central Louisiana State Mud Dogs beat Louisiana Cougars in the Bourbon Bowl. Bobby Boucher had 16 sacks that game, still the record today.
I was at the Clemson Pitt game. Hands down the most annoying game ever (for Clemson fans). Everybody knew that Clemson's luck in the past games might run out that night, and it did. But hey, it paid off.
Kansas State vs Oklahoma in the 2003 Big 12 championship game. They called that OU team the best team ever. Heisman trophy winning QB, and they got blown out.
Man. The greatest upset would also be 1998 when the last D2 school beat an FBS team. North Alabama beat La.-Lafayette in Lafayette. That was the last year I think FBS could play D2 schools.
You left off arguably the greatest upset ever...Miami over Nebraska in the Orange Bowl, January 1, 1984. Nebraska was putting up 60, 70 and even 80 burgers on teams that season.
Jim Fath Woody Hayes and the Buckeyes were expected to roll to their second straight undefeated season. They were dubbed the best team of the century and the best team of Woody Hayes’ career in Columbus, and they were beat by a first year coach. I’d call that an upset.
#2 USC getting knocked out of the 06 national championship by crosstown rival (unranked) UCLA 13-9. Big time interception to end a strong SC drive. Don't remember the spread for that game but SC was certainly favored by 2 or more scores. Costly upset for the Trojans
You could literally make a whole "upset" video for teams that played the Arkansas Razorbacks under Chad M. But u can make many for us too. Texas. Oklahoma. Random games during Matt Jones' and Houston Nutt's entire careers. Won in 7 overtimes twice. We beat LSU the year they won the National championship. Henry heave against Ole Miss.
I have to go find that one to relive. I was watching the Bama game that night with a friend and the internet was streaming so slow, that I could only check in on the game. Jacksonville State made this video, but sadly, TROY didn't.
Pretty sad that Appalachian State's upset win barely get a notice. That was the first time a small school in the minor leagues ever beaten a Div 1 Team ever. That was the game of the year. Come on, they deserve more of a blip in the video
I only consider FCS schools beating A FBS school a Real Major Upset, David vs Goliath. Jacksonville State in 5 overtime’s vs Ole Miss, App State over Michigan. The FCS schools have less scholarships than FBS schools and FCS schools have a real playoff system.
Many people would consider it an upset when an FCS school beats an FBS school, but it's hard to call it an upset when the FCS school had just won its 5th consecutive national championship.
No sir. FBS team is Michigan. They had a horrible showing in this video. I retain the Go Big Blue theme for my FCS team tho. This will be the year that the Dakota marker stays in Brookings and we beat the bison in the post season. Will admit that I pull for the conference anytime ndsu is playing a FBS team or non-conference team in playoffs. The Missouri Valley is the best conference there is.
Biggest upsets in college football. But...you didnt include the 2003 Big 12 Championship game where the lowley Kansas State Wildcats defeated an undefeatable Oklahoma Sooners 35-7....
After we beat Alabama in the Game of the Century, Oklahoma State was our projected opponent in the BCS title game. This upset made us play Alabama again.
You're right. I didn't want to play Bama again. On a positive note, that Pitt over West Virginia upset put us in the 2007 championship. That could have been West Virginia playing Ohio State.
App state beating Michigan was pretty awesome. But that Fiesta Bowl where Oklahoma lost to Boise State is my all time favorite. That was a WAC team beating a Big 12 team that had Adrian Peterson on it. The announcer kept yelling, "this is why College football needs a playoff!"
I agree that the most exciting college game ever is the Boise State Fiesta Bowl, but if your going by biggest upsets it's got to be the Appalachian State beating Michigan, and in the "The Big House"!
I can't imagine anything more humiliating than App State at Michigan. I'm not even remotely a fan of either of those programs, but that game will always be the Webster's definition of "CFB Upset"
I was a student at Ohio State at the time. We had a few TVs on the front porch of our rental to watch multiple games at once. To say the cheers up and down the street were loud would be very much an understatement.
You can’t have a list like this without Appalachian State vs. Michigan. It ruined Michigan the year and completely destroyed them and took them off the AP pool. They were also favored by 30+ points. Best upset ever.
@@underhill918gaming5 _No it wasn't . Where did you get that from. Look it up and get back with me. If I'm wrong I will apologize. But the same thing goes for you if you are wrong.
