Made with iOS IbisPaint. Playing oh so faintly in the background is the Scythian Industrial theme from the Civilization IV OST. I do not own the rights to this track.
Something new - drawing and commentary on a Greco-Bactrian lancer (xystophoros?) and hoplite, early 2nd century BC

Great stuff man! Kinda been getting into drawing late Roman troops (haven’t doodled in like 8yrs) wouldn’t have done it without your influence. Keep up the good work your channel is one of a kind!

Great work as always. Do we know if the Greco-Bactrians wore muscle cuirasses more often than the soldiers of the other Hellenistic states? It seems like a lot of the surviving images we have of their soldiers show them and many modern artists such as yourself do the same.

Now that you mention it yeah that is odd. I think of the few Greco-Bactrian depictions of their own warriors, the muscle cuirass is quite prominent (there's even a post-Greco-Bactrian piece of art, the Tilla Tepe Warrior Clasp, which shows two warriors in muscled cuirasses). But this could be just artistic convention showing heroic figures, not necessarily representing reality. I'm mainly doing it i guess to contrast it with their very Iranian trousers, again artistic convention

Your style is very pleasing, simple but effective and informative. It might be interesting to see if that charm would carry over into 3D printed models ?

@foojer, still very nice much better at drawing than me. Maybe you could draw an early germanic warrior in the future?

No Germans planned, but possibly a Celtic video in the pipeline

I mean... you clearly have an excellent grasp of heroic scale minis proportion and historical detail. On the art side, if you want to advance your skills I would say there is plenty of areas you could explore, starting with things like form and construction. That also leads into things like line quality, rhythm, and line of action. I would recommend the book "Cartoon Animation" by Preston Blair. It does not just cover animation but pretty much goes to the heart of what drawing is about from fundamentals to advanced concepts like color and composition design. It is not an easy path once you start getting into it with any degree of seriousness but I promise you results.
