just about finished refretting my Greco SE450. All my Greco guitars are top notch stuff. I am selling my Tokai silver star. Great guitar but the Greco is fantastic !
Nice guitar , been thinking about getting the Greco strat since I bought the Les Paul . My Greco Les Paul is a Super Real from 1979 and I’m very happy with it . One of the best guitars I own and I’m betting the strat is just as good . Thanks for your videos.
Thanks a lot for checking it out Tuco, yeah the Greco's are sweet guitars and the Super Real's are the best of the bunch. I need to make another video with my EGF850. That was the one that introduced me to the Greco brand.
Funnily enough I saw one of these advertised online by a major retailer. I used this video in my decision to buy it. I wondered about your comments re the scratchplate being unique, when the one I had my eye on had the very same. Turns out it was the same, in fact THE very same guitar bought from a retailer in Edinburgh...hahaha...arrived today! Anyway, thanks...it is indeed a lovely guitar and brilliant condition for a 40+ year old instrument. Lovely action and sound. You can leave this video on,,,never had a guitar that had been demo'd on RU-vid before :D It now resides in Bolton, Lancashire and your appraisal was bang on. Incidentally my son actually works in Edinburgh (but that is just coincidental) Must admit Im not that keen on scratchplate, will be ordering a lovely tortoise one. Will it be same size do you know off hand? Anyway, thanks again...and to people watching...yes, its a very nice guitar indeed...:D
Damn, sorry I missed the comment Alec! Small world, lol! This is a nice guitar and, like you say, crazy good condition for the year. Strat's aren't really my thing and I needed to shift some gear to buy more stuff to review, so I traded this one in at GG. Re scratchplate, not 100% sure off the top of my head. I know it took me a wee while to find one to fit the 79 Greco Strat that I still own. Just a case of trying to match up the screw holes when checking them out on places like Ebay. I think Northern Guitars were pretty good for parts, as I've bought a lot of stuff from them over the years.
@@DunsysGuitarWorld yeh I let our lead guitarist have a play with it (has US strats) and he didnt want to give it me back. hahaha Didnt like scratchplate though, so put a brown tortoise shell one on...lovely!!! (and its good to watch this review!)
Nice one, Dunsy! Having just gotten my Squier Jag back from the shop, I'm in a Fender-friendly mood (Greco made, or otherwise). It sounds great and of course, it's going to be quality. You don't label a guitar 'Brazen Picker Professional' if you feel less than confident in its abilities, do you? I dig the jam at the end as well. Some inspiring bass work there and the lead was reminding me a bit of Catherine Wheel (a fav of mine). Enjoy!
Ah, nice one, Dave - what did you get done to it? I love the "Brazen Picker Pro" name, sets out the stall early and you know what you're getting, lol! I liked the Catherine Wheel, trying to remember if we ever played with them, but I'm sure I saw them live.
@@DunsysGuitarWorld You have one on me then. Never got to see 'em live, unfortunately I got a full setup done on the Jaguar. I think they may have even shimmed the neck a bit as well. It was pretty rough when I first got it, but now it's playing great and I can pretend to know what I'm doing with all my pedals. Ha! 😆 A Mastery bridge has been suggested, which I might do when $ permits.
I was playing a 1977 SE450 a year ago at a thrift shop, excellent guitar but I didn't pull the trigger on it. The price was ok, 23,000 yen - maybe it is still there 😀
Cheers Paul - no covers gigs, but Twisted Nerve are supporting Fields of the Nephilim at the O2 in Edinburgh in December (the old Corn Exchange) - bit stage on that one!
Hi man have the same guitar, but the truss rod its a mess, can you tell me the original allen key size? In the case of replacement, a fender original Will it fit?, thanks a lot
I traded this one a while back to a local music store - but strangely enough the chap who bought it from them commented below, small world! You could check with him, but I’m pretty sure it’s something like 5 or 6mm, not imperial Fender measurements.
I only play one every other Straturday....see what I did there? 🤣Yeah, I'm definitely more of a LP fella, but there's something magical about that glassy sound of the Strat. I don't think I'd ever use them live, unless I had a Les Paul to fall back on when I need that humbucker grunt. Which is pretty much all the time when I'm playing live, lol.
