Second time you commented on meat. I wasn't there to taste but generally meat is really good in greece. Order pork not chicken breast. Find your comment strange as Chinese BBQ meats are really dry compared to grilled meats in Greece.
Thanks for watching! Maybe that was because I grew up in a country where I could only find juicy meats in our night markets and restaurants :) That was unfortunate that you had really dry meats in some Chinese BBQ places. But, don't get me wrong, the meats were dry in Greece doesn't mean they were bad - otherwise, we wouldn't have ordered souvlakis again and again, right? ;)
@sparklingblueorbit I find no culture does duck as well as the Chinese. I also find Greeks do pork and lamb well. The one recommendation is less chicken. I find meats that are traditionally done with pork are done with chicken breats for tourists and for people who see chicken breast as healthy. I find in a lot of places it ends up being dry. Just wrong meat for type of cooking. I live BBQ chicken but with bone. Chicken gyro is fine. Some people still do a good chicken souvlaki but I play it safe and never order the chicken souvlaki as it can easily become dry.
We actually tried the pork and lamb souvlakis at the beginning of our Greece trip, and they were indeed better than the chicken souvlakis. However, we tended to have meats with less grease under such hot weather - chicken, therefore, was the best option for us and it did go perfectly with the local beer!
