After visiting Athens and the island of Evia (Evia), we went to Crete. We spent two busy days there and then visited Santorini. See how many interesting things we managed to learn about Heraklion and Crete. The island was owned by the Byzantines, Arabs, Venetians and Turks at different times. And only in the last century, Crete gained freedom for a very short time and then joined Greece. Back in the nineteenth century, archaeologists discovered the world's oldest Minoan civilization, destroyed after an explosion on the Santorini volcano.
We visited the Palace of Knossos, whose walls are about four thousand years old. British archaeologist Arthur Evans conducted excavations in Crete for a long time and introduced the world to the Palace of Knossos - the heart of the world's oldest Minoan civilization.
In this video, you will see a detailed story about the palace and about the Minotaur, which terrified all neighboring countries. And also take a walk with us in Heraklion with a guide Natalia, look into local shops, see an overview of the ferry on which we arrived to Crete and learn about our new channel on youtube.
