Back before I became Chef 👨🏻🍳 Extraordinaire as my Ms. Ginny calls me! I got my start at a mom & pop Greek Fest! We opened together & as they say: The Rest is History!!! I got my Love 😍 for Baklava & numerous other Greek Pastries!! So I Love ❤️ this Video SOOOOO Much!!! It touched my Soul seeing all this Wonderful Food!! And they are still Thriving to this day! I went on to Cater my own Cuisine!! Enjoy 😊Ms. Raina!!!💙🤍💙🤍💙 🇬🇷
"Dolma" is the name of the stuffed Grape leaves you liked, usually minced lamb and rice. "Tzatziki" is the common yogurt, cucumber, garlic sauce. I would have loved to tried it all!
Dear Rania, as a Greek citizen, Greek food is in Greece because the taste is different then what you ate. Here in Greece, every thing is Greek from meat to herbs but you have to know where to eat because not all shops do offer the Greek traditional food so maybe you should visit Greece, try the Greek food and tell us the difference between their & here 🙃
Greek food is a wonderful thing, and anybody who cooks with as much garlic and lemon as the Greeks do is OK by me. Nala was being so cute and so canine, grabbing your food the way she did!
The Mousaka looked so good. She was a little surprised like, pretty good. It prob looked more like a lasagna to Raina. In Greece I only had Dolmas with no meat. Lovecthem either way.
Darling, that isn't 'banana leaves' they're called Dolomades, which is meat mixed w/rice, wrapped in grape leaves. Greek food is often flavored with lemon, so it can be sour-ish😢, and the Dolomades are sour-ish, because of the grape leaves. My grandfather was from northern Rethimnon, Crete, Greece. My favorite food are the Calamaria, which are whole deep fried squid. Yum!🥰
Stuffed vine leaves and stuffed peppers are fantastic so flavourful, but you have to go to Greece for the real deal, that's why us in the UK are so close.🇬🇧🇬🇷
Yay, i was patiently waiting for this video Raina! I loved getting to see everything that you did and everything you ate while at the Greek Festival! All the food looked so delicious, and Nala grabbing a bite of your sausage was so cute! Hope you, Kendy, and Steven had so much fun when you guys went!! it looked like such a blast! Amazing video as always girl. Can't wait for more videos, Always looking forward to each one!! ❤❤❤❤Love all of your videos and going along on the adventures with you through them even during the challenges!!! Love you Raina!
That Greek lasagna is known as Pastichio, that is topped with Béchamel and the minced meat w rice wrapped in grape leaves is Dolmas. Thank you for giving a great shoutout to this Greek event. 🫶
Greek food is great. But she really phoned.this in. She's done Greek food videos before and knows what the food is....come on, cucumber sauce...its tzatziki...she did not do this festival any favors
Greek food is my favourite, you should have tried Chicken or Pork Souvlaki it has peppers and onions inbetween the meat and I didn't see any Tzatziki and I have never seen Pitta bread like that, you should of ask if they serve Gyros 🌮🌮🇬🇷🇬🇷
The next time you want to impress a Hellenic person don't tell them "thank you," say, "efharistó." Those aren't banana leaves, they're grape leaves. Glad you enjoyed yourself. Opa!
As a Greek, love our food..so glad to hear you pronounce Gyro the correct way..I work at CAVA, where we serve Greek/Mediterranean food..I have to correct people when they mispronounce it all the time..our Greek festival is every September around labor day at my church
That Gyro is NOT the Greek gyro. That is closer to Turkish Doner which is rancid. Actual gyro is off-cuts of lamb compressed together but is still actual meat. Donner is gristle shit meat, guts all pulverised and processed into that abomination. The creamy lasgnia thing is called Pastitio and it's nice but mousaka is 10x better
Festivals are cool but going to an authentic Greek restaurant will taste much better I think. We have a restaurant in my town here in Pompano Beach Florida that has a Greek restaurant called "Kostas" And this guy is 100% Greek and has the most delicious food! The funny part is if you just drove by you probably wouldn't go in cuz it looks like a hole in the wall but it's amazing food.
We had a Greek restaurant in our town, owned by Greeks with Greek cooks. The food was marvelous! Then it was sold to some Mexicans. The Greek food no longer tastes the same and I stopped going there.
No she didn't! I felt her presence didn't do anything positive for this festival. Felt very forced and aloof. Her face said it all, no excitement, barely any reactions to the food. She only liked the Lamb and bread really 😮. I think she's getting tired of competitive eating. She needs to take a break and readjust or branch out to something else. Like becoming a judge maybe.
The food was probably delicious but is food and flavours she's just not used to or familiar with. I mean she ate the gyro by picking out the individual components then ate the pita by itself when it's supposed to all be eaten together. I agree, this video doesn't do this festival any favours.
@cookiekirkland8689 I don't think she is getting tired of competitive eating. I think it's more that she isn't used to/doesn't like the taste. Look at what she usually eats. It's either some variety of Asian, Mexican/Caribbean, or American. Totally different flavor profile.
I love lamb but that meat looked really dry. You didn't look like you were enjoying it at all, you should have had a falafel with alfalfa sprouts and some sesame tahini sauce ✅
