This is just the beginning.
There is no rehabilitation in Risdon Prison..
It's just a holding pen and from my experience, jail just makes people hate the world and pushes them to reoffend in the future if anything..
The system in Tasmania is not equipped to deal with the complex trauma and psychological issues many disadvantaged people face growing up..
The psychologists were telling this to inmates but refused to admit it publicly because it makes them look bad..
It's all spiralling out rapidly and people are dying over drugs and violence more and more each week..
While I was in jail, I started my own hip hop workshops, got the Head of Activities to bring in recording equipment for the fellas, on the last day I was inside, I had a meeting with an experienced social worker from Sydney about building a full studio with a 20 year plan to use Art Therapy and Music to help rehabilitate inmates, and now Im working with Optamus to continue to build this idea in Tasmania to push for more direction with positive reinforcement and encouragement within Risdon Prison and then build this in to a career..
