Man, the cartoons really did Parallax Hal Jordan dirty. In the comics, bro literally pulled a Thanos, kinda. Snapped his fingers and rewrote the entire universe from scratch.
Hal gets really gets the short end of the stick. He gets his arm broken by darkseid in justice league war. Then dies from para demon doomday hybrid in Apokolips war. Then in the new timeline he gets taken over by Parallax turns evil then dies again. Hal can’t seem to catch a break.
almost like Hal has literally been the default Lantern for a few DECADES and has YEARS worth of stories for people to go fawn over. This is, to the best of my knowledge, the first Stewart led film. Period. Nevermind Rayner, Baz, Gardener or Cruz (the latter of which should be the live action GL going forward and i will die on this hill) . If they want Hal to be a beat stick, fckin let him be the beat stick, he can take it
Hal not being himself during this arc/saga was more obvious than it was in the comics. Apparently, in the comics, Parallax chose a more subtle "influence him to the dark side" approach. Hal was making all the decisions, Parallax was simply turning it up to eleven. Here, however, there was more direct involvement.
I like how out of all the Superheroes in DC, it's Batman who's really the non-killer. Like, Wonder Woman probably killed sentient beings, Superman as well, Green Lantern when the rule was annuled, The Flash (but he erased that one), Hawkman has definitely offed a couple guys, and Green Arrow offed the guy that killed his granddaughter.
At that point there was nothing of his friend left to save. He was entirely insane even before parallax possession. In the comics he actually killed the whole core before the possession due to his insanity. The comics ending was much better too with hal dying through sacrifice by starting a sun.

This was the most non sensical storyline ever, Hal the most powerful green lantern possessed by paralax, with 10 green lantern rings lost to John a rookie green lantern, make this make sense.
Look, I get that its it's supposed to be a yellow tipped arrow or whatever. But STILL, thats all it took? Just ONE measly yellow arrow? No wonder the Green Lanterns are always so useless
This is why I hate DC. The powescaling makes no sense Regular humans have no business killing planet busters and with arrows, guns or baterangs at that and yet we are just supposed to accept this.

I can buy it... Hal doesn't have super speed, he was caught off guard and Green Arrow is supposed to be a master of exploiting weaknesses similar to Batman but not on his level, just enough to be one of the top 15 heroes on earth and in the Justice league. Maybe he hit him in a vital spot, since Green Arrow's entire thing is his marksmanship with a bow. Maybe it wasn't just a metal arrow?

Everything I said wasn't "filling in gaps" but explaining away what I think, what blatantly happened was Green Arrow got a win off against a more powerful being than him but Green Arrow's always underrated and thought to be weak when that's not exactly the case. The hero's strengths has always been similar to Batman's and his archery, his sight, his ability to also spot weak spots to stop a threat with maximum efficiency as we saw in this scene. Whenever a character does something amazing, but a character that does less through out a story gets the win... They turn off their brains and jump towards "THAT'S BS!!" When you forget Green Arrow's a justice leaguer for a reason. Green Arrow isn't beating Hal with his inferior human body but something Lethal likely to the right spot.
@@darthvaderdylan There's no gaps to fill here. I saw the animated movie and its a regular yellow arrow. Green lantern energy has no power against yellow objects so the arrow went through his defenses as if they weren't there were bullets and such would at the least have been resisted.
That sad pause to let the choice he sink in before helping his comrade up. It speak volums of the pain he was in. He knew it was needed to be done, but it wasnt one he can ever forget nor enjoy.
Isn’t having a bunch of rings the same as having one ring? The rings aren’t the source of power the will of the host is, so it should be pointless to have more than one ring.
This by far the biggest waste of Hal's transition into parallax. He killed the entire Corp and the Guardians but no... One single yellow tipped arrow. Gtfo.
I have a real issue with that. They spent the whole movie looking for Hal and you're telling me Ollie left all his knock out arrows and stun arrows at home. That there was no way they could have subdued him and removed the big from his body safely. If they just wanted to put John on his place Hal could have elected to stay on Oa and rebuild the GLC. Movie was terrible.
Fun fact: it doesn't matters if u wear multiple rings your power only depends on your will power not the amount of rings Hal wore those rings as a souvenir kinda like how serial killers do
I think it might help with channeling the energy of his will by being able to generate multiple constructs at once or something. One ring can only shoot like one or two consistent beams i think, atleast i haven't seen once do multiple simultaneously yet. 🤷♂️ But what you said is likely a part of it aswell, I'm not saying that's wrong 💁♂️
Emerald twilight was a sad and very strong story. A hero like Hal being torn and hopeless and ending getting scold by his bossess He Just snaps, tilts, and went for a savage and desperate run killing everything in his path even his arch enemy or his best friend. Even though the writers did him DIRTY I dont think the parallax entity was a good choice. I thought what they originally wanted was turning Green lantern corps just one lantern in the figure of Kyle Rayner and that's it. Ah also using Hal-Parallax the excuse for them rebooting the DC universe at that time.
Who would have guessed that the greatest weakness of a cosmic entity possessing one of the most powerful (if not the most powerful) Green Lanterns was a stick?
The fact they wrote and animated then released Green Arrow killing Parallax Hal Jordan with a fucking arrow is hilariously pathetic. Even if it were “yellow” Green Lanterns aren’t weak to the colour they are weak to fear which happens to be yellow on the emotional spectrum, if that were the case Hal is still possessed by Parallax so “yellow” objects shouldn’t harm him. Base level Hal Jordan that arrow would bounce of him, he doesn’t have superman invulnerability but his will is so powerful he can heal himself, bring himself back from the dead and it’s cannon that wielding the power of Light “will” gives you some durability. They take hits from heavy hitters and get back up so if an arrow is able to penetrate then a punch from Wonder Woman would obliterate their heads into mush. They literally turn Green Lanterns into fodder like they are intergalactic Gotham police officers. No, Lanterns are extremely powerful and are assigned to sectors to protect beings from colossal threats. An arrow isn’t even penetrating a rookie green lantern especially Parallax Hal.. The dude was one shotting the entire cosmos and tanking everything, warping reality and shit but a fucking arrow gets him? Nah enough with the poor treatment of Lantern Corps. These writers are deluded as hell and should be embarrassed hahah “He wasn’t concentrating” doesn’t matter, he is pure will and fear at that point, rings in general alert you from incoming threats and attacks, take away the arrow not even penetrating Hal should of instantly turned around and caught that shit or flicked it away 😂 The absolute disrespect towards Hal In the end of this movie was a joke, bro eats punches from Mongol, Superman, Darkseid etc but nah a fucking arrow kills him in a form who’s one of strongest beings in the DC universe… smh
Did not like this movie too much. Had arrow killing. Had hal, one of if not the most powerful gl to exist die to a common arrow. And he was possessed so its not like hes 100% guilty, and the parallax parasite didn't even possess anyone else. And it was his city blowing up that let him get possessed in the first place in comics, I'd have liked something just as important to happen, maybe the death of Carol or somthing else that isnt so similar to injustice.
The level of bad writing here is truly amazing. Hal even as a total rookie survived a nuclear explosion because the ring automatically protected him from it. But, I guess... an arrow is to much to handle for a way more powerful versions with all those rings.
Question, why is everyone in the DC management trying to off Hal. He's basically one of the ones that started the justice league itself. Ppl gotta stop hating on white supremacy
In my opinion, this was the worse of the DCAU/Tomorrowverse so far. Hal not even trying to resist and John being a Gary Stu was just sad and a waste to both their characters. They even went out of their way to waste Sinestro by just killing him off, plus having more rings does nothing, it doesn't make you more or less powerful! You can just tell the writer isn't a GL fan...
It's unfortunate, was hoping with a restart that they'd do better, but I really am just not a fan of the new DCAU or the previous one, which is sad because I WANT to like them.
The comic did it better with hal sacrificing himself to turn on a sun. For some reason DC always has this unfortunate need to change the endings of perfectly good stories whenever they are animated 🤷♂️
And there are people who think a Green lantern would easily win against Ben Tennyson with the official omnitrix, master control, and control of Alien X.
