I think the nightmare is when drummers play like this but can't and just end up fucking everything up. Look at Travis Barker. He plays like this, but he's rock solid in his timing, so no one cares, it just sounds awsome.
Marblewho because you want drums to fit with the song, yea sure it may sound cool for one or two songs but when you overplay every song it just makes the whole band sound bad. Now obviously he is doing this on purpose here but to much drums can ruin a song, or many.
Marblewho I had a drummer like that before and it was horrible and left me mentally scarred. We would write a song at a slow tempo and he would try to play in cut time and would go ham🙃
Damn man lmao! I think that drummers that do specifically what you're describing are the ones who are still in the beginning stages of drumming. They hear some popular songs where the drummer is either playing cut time throughout or does like the bridge in cut time, while the rest of the band is playing at a slower tempo, and they want to mimic that drummer.
Colin Stevenson Oh and Green Day's not mainstream? Fuck off, here I'll fix it: "I feel like this is what it would sound like if Eric Sandin joined Green Day." Better?
As a drummer who prefers what most people think is "overplaying" I fucking love this cover! Awesome job dude, fellow drummers will appreciate this I think.
jesus, sometimes when I come across isolated parts/covers of certain instruments in a song I love it gives me a few things. A greater appreciation for each of the musicians in said group, a look into their raw talent and a great-fullness for kye Smith making this!
It's a good thing I can't do that, otherwise my band would turn into a combination of NOFX and Streetlight Manifesto (I have a ska band) with a horn section sounded like it's gonna die.
Such an easy song to overplay to and used to play it at a punk jam session every Sunday so had to find variety so I played all these at one point and this always went down well hence why it became a staple of the session. A good song to play live.
That's an awesome Punk Drummin' demonstration!!! I agree that Basket Case is a masterpiece but I think you made a great tribute to it. Tre couldn't have done it better. Keep it up!!
Basket Case executed with deadly precision, like a SWAT sniper on drums. Fuck yeah man! The music world needs more kickass dudes like you! Jesus H Christ does this ever fucking rock!
Your fills are on point and follow the tune in a linear fashion that still keeps the tune together even with the overdrumming... great take on an old classic (:
Please no. It's really generic and disappointing and there's very little punk drumming on it, which is what I like to see Kye do personally because he does it better than anyone else I know on YT.
